Schiit Vali 3 : Impressions Thread

@RBRIII I just hooked up my Horzion Open to the Vali 3, and the Raytheon 12AU7A is bringing the "Magic" to those headphones as well. :L3000:

**Aside: Horizon Open are known to be amp dependent/picky to sound their best. 😉
** better than being user-picky 🤪😂

The Raytheon discussion led me to pop in one of my favorite mini's that I haven't listened to in a while to warm up my new cans, the '65 Raytheon 5670 from Japan. I figured I'd start off with the mini's and work my way up the tube tiers as they break in. They sound phenomenal so far for both music and movies... :notes:

Does anyone know if these.test results are indicative of a NOS tube?
NOS value is 5500, so both triodes are within a reasonable testing variance to be at NOS values. Whether it's actually New Old Stock or not is anybody's guess...but not worth worrying about IMO.

Received my 6N26P from Artsstrade (Ukraine) on Ebay. Very well packaged and included a handwritten thank you note :)
It took about 7 days to arrive in Canada, and another 7 days to my mailbox.

I tested a few 5670 tubes, but ended up preferring the stock (Schiit) 6NP3. I am very pleasantly surprised by the 6N26P.

Even in the first hour of listening the 6N26P the improvement in clarity and transient speed was obvious across the spectrum.
I listen to mostly acoustic instruments (jazz, latin, classical). I hear a subtle "holographic" image. Instruments are located in 3D. Vocals are very lifelike.

The Vali3 seems to run a bit warmer, but based on previous posts on the 26P heat, this doesn't concern me.

Thanks to all those above that led me to this tube:

Warming up a pair of new additions to my current collection, 1960's era RCA 12AU7A Clear Tops with side getters. So far, giving off a musical and smooth presentation with no discernable treble roll off...quite enjoyable! :notes:

Nice, those were tempting when I saw them on Etsy, but I decided not to get them. I might grab a pair the next time I see them. Granted other purchases come first.

... a nice choice! Not outrageously priced, either!

That's where I picked these up actually, from Sir Jeffrey (aka Lowtechelec).

If/when you (or our fellow members here) are looking to grab some in the future, Reverb has some deals on these (and other tubes). :beerchug:

😆, then they are the same ones I was looking at. I ended up purchasing a few others from him instead. 😉
