If one is going to get serious about rolling tubes they need to find a most reputable tube seller or invest in a calibrated tube tester. Or both.

Which is why I made sure to ask about sellers prior to settling on two of them. They have been reliable thus far after over a dozen tube purchases. 😉

I am too :chicken:to buy Tubes from most eBay sellers. 😅

One of my go-to sellers is Lowtechelec on Etsy.

alright, usps came through and its here. Initial impressions are really good. Its definitely giving something different from my gsx mini. Really gets along with the DCA E3 honestly.

Interestingly, with any of my headphones I dont need to get out of low gain. I dont even need to turn on the impedance multiplier. Its just fine for all of them at 12-1.

and... I just hit the protection, geeze. headphones only while switching gain and the multiplier, turned the volume a bit past 1 on it just cut out. restart solved it and ill see if it happens again later when I have more time to listen.

I think it might be thermal, so it would likely depend on the airflow and room temp. At least thats how I would design something like this, if the problem is temp, then the solution is temp. My office gets pretty warm with a server rack in the closet and multiple computers running so I dont expect to be using this in the summer haha.

Damn, not looking great for the Valhlla 3 but as disheartening as it is this is why i appreciate honesty.

I have a friend that is also an early adopter but even in ac cooled room it keeps shutting off.

Sorry your disheartened, but I'm loving my V3. Best amp purchase I've made in the last year. :beerchug:

Please folks, if you are having issues with VH3 going into protection and there's not an overtly apparent reason, contact Schiit via info@schiit.com. They will work with you to determine root cause and next steps. There's no need to endure or speculate as to the cause -- they stand ready to assist and help arrive at a resolution.

My nice socket savers arrived today. I put them in and turned my V3 on. Music played fine.. V3 went into protection mode on low gain with the volume at 9 o'clock. Turned back on after a minute and is playing. We'll see how it goes and if it keeps happening.

Ripper - those are really nice socket savers you sent me after at Pulse. My only concern is how the hell to get them out if I need to send the unit back to the factory.

Here's what the SERIOUS tube roller has in their arsenal... 😁

My missing tubes arrived today — one day earlier than expected! Thank you, Schiit, for quick and excellent service as usual.

As for the amp — and take this with a huge grain of salt as the Valhalla 3 is my first OTL tube amp and second tube amp of any kind after the Vali 3 — it sounds great with good extension down low, nice width, and smooth treble. So far, I've listened with an Atrium Closed and a Tungsten DS.

Yeah, I'm listening now to the Tungsten DS with the Valhalla 3 around 10 o'clock with no feedback (highest gain) and impedance multipler enabled, and it sounds comfortably loud and good to me. I don't know if this is optimal for the Tungten DS, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless.

I can't imagine anyone burning their hand on Meze Elite HP. 😕

Oh you meant using VH3 with it. Disregard. 😂
