Schiit Modi Multibit or JDS Labs El Dac ?

I A/Bed (blind) a Bimby with a regular Modi with 2 other people and no one could tell a difference. It's important to match the volume. Higher end DACs tend to output more voltage and make the music louder which sounds better.

I was hoping this thread might have some comments from someone who has compared the Mimby vs. EL DAC. It seems the EL DAC has been getting some hype lately.

I can comment on the OL dac and the EL dac as I have and use both. With respect to Mr. Seaber (excellent businessman imho), while both may be cut from the same cloth, the EL dac is a better sounding dac if you are a careful listener and do a few things to maximize the performance of any usb dac you may wish to consider.

The EL dac sounds a bit more sophisticated with more apparent detail, more natural timbre and a bit more space between instruments imho. One of the big differences to me is the fact that the EL dac has an ASIO driver available and it does sound better than the wasapi event mode in Windows 10.

As for the Mimby, I am afraid I have not listened to it. I have owned the Bimby, Modi, Modi2, Modi 4490, and lived with the Gumby. These are very good dacs, but I think their USB implementation was quite weak for some time and may have improved a lot recently. Then again they sell the Eitr. After reviewing 5 usb bridges into several thousands of dollars, I do not own one of them. A very good or great dac can have a USB implementation that does not need a USB bridge.

Thanks for the response. I have been using the Mimby via SPDIF instead of usb. I am wanting a second DAC and was thinking of buy another Mimby, but have heard some good things about the EL DAC. It may not really matter much, as I have not even sure if I can hear a difference between the Fulla 2 DAC in comparison with the Mimby using the same amp.

I was kind of curious about this comparison as well. I have been thinking about purchasing one of these and researching all of the information that i can find relating to their qualities. It seems that for ever person that I find that likes one another person does not. Though, to be honest, in the end I probably wouldn't be able to hear any real difference as I don't feel that my hearing is good enough.
