This is the Mjolnir 1 thread. Mjolnir 2 tube hybrid thread is here https://www.head-fi.org/threads/778250/

There are many third party cable manufacturers that make cheaper and good replacement cables, plus if you post a wanted classified, I'm sure someone will be happy to sell you the stock cable for under $100. I got it from a member for $80 shipped years ago.

awesome. i'll move my question and thanks for the advice.

Anyone still using one of these? Just picked up one for quite a deal and have been enjoying the way it sounds. Had a Mjolnir 3 for a while and while that was a more resolving amp, I got tired of fighting the heat, especially once I bought a tube amp. MJ1 sits comfortably in the rack without getting hot and has more of a personality sound-wise. Finding the bass heftier/punchier than MJ3 and also finding it stages wider. Treble is a bit etchy and grainy compared to MJ3 but not to the point of fatigue/sibiliance.

Really happy to have picked this up for when I don't feel like burning tubes in the Aegis. Filled my need for a solid state amp for convenience without sounding dead like most of the other amps I could have bought for a similar price.

Yes still using mine but not my go to amp. It is very powerful analytic dynamic and relatively neutral but it has a slight metallic sheen to the sound which can be annoying with the wrong headphone and/or music.

The biggest drawback is that it only works with balanced headphones.

Heat is a problem also during summer and without air condition, sometimes it really heats up to the point that i stuck higher feet at the bottom for better convection.

There is nothing in the market that sounds better than this at the second hand prices.

Describes my take as well. I initially bought one with an OG Gungnir and had to return the Gungnir as the pairing didn't work for me. Eventually paired one with a Gungnir MB for the office, but it mostly gathers dust now.

I should strongly consider selling mine. It deserves a better home than one that gets turned on < 5 times/year.
