Question, if I find the treble on the DT880 600ohm soothing(after some little EQ of course, specifically in the 8khz region) will I find Hifiman's take on treble good also?
I had different version of DT880 for very short time... and used DT1990 Pro for very long time (using Dekoni hybrid pad which did tame that 8k region a little) . I didn't find Hifiman Arya Organic, HE1000 Stealth, HE1000 SE any harsher than DT1990 Pro with Dekoni pad. It actually was less sibilant for me. I don't really remember how DT880 was vs 1990Pro as it has been quite some time ago.

Thx, that pretty much answers my question, that means that hifiman headphones are not going to be to sibilant or bright for me.

The DT880 600ohm needs to be driven really well and also it's kind of picky with source equipment, because there where some singers that with other HP it was a really smooth and easy going listening to them and with the DT880s, specially if you don't calm down the 8khz peak, it's going to become unlistenable, at least to my ears.

How's the synergy with the He1000se and the mj3?

Very tempted to purchase this amp, but was wondering if its a significant upgrade from the Burson Soloist 3xp with super charger which sounds pretty decent.

I love it. In fact, I am now contemplating susvara thanks to this amp. Never heard Burson so I don't know... but based on wave theory review of magni pietous compare at end... it sounds like side grade?

According to the comment section of that video, Wave Theory says he will release his review of the MJ3 in the next few days.

Will definitely be watching.

Based on my experience with the BS3XP and Supercharger, the MJ3 w with the BF2/64 into my HE1000SE has more depth, instrument separation, and has more bass/subbass oomph than what the BS3XP paired with the BF2/64 could present. Also, I cannot sense a noise floor with the MJ3, while I did with the BS3XP at anything above low gain. The BS3XP is AMAZING at detail retrieval of course, but the MJ3 is no slouch either. I wouldn't say that the MJ3 is an upgrade necessarily, but I personally did find the MJ3 to be a better amp for my entire chain. I don't feel the need to change my amp anytime soon now that I have the MJ3. I actually sold all of my other amps because this one is just sublime to my ears.

Very helpful!

Soundstage depth upgrade is nice.

What about the width and vertical height of the soundstage compared to the BS3xp?

And more importantly, which amp has better timbre / life like sounds?

The organics can be depending on the set up, and i meant hifimans in general, it’s something that’s been said about the hifiman brand for quite some time now, surely its nothing new.

Except that hasn't been my experience. With Sundara or Arya.

I’ve never heard the Arya bright either, they were kinda bright when sourced from the geshelli jnog2 dac. What i meant is that hifimans in general are said to be brighter cans than most. No specific set, just in general.

Given that you're running an Aune S17 amp as myself, how do Hifiman's synergize with this amp in your humble opinion?

I think it's an upgrade from the Soloist 3X GT. That was dry. The MJ3 is as good but musical.

The best part of the MJ3 is the timbre with each note. I stop pre-amp from the Jot2 to the MJ3 to enjoy some relaxing slow music. Smooth jazz and R&B are awesome on this.
