Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I bought the Lyr + B stock. I have the receipt to prove it too.
Maybe it's B stock because they screwed up and screened the wrong name on? If it's not open yet I'd check with them, but if it is you can tell really easy by turning it on without a tube in. IIRC, Lyr 3 didn't have a SS mode.

They responded today asking if I wanted to exchange for the Lyr+. I asked for the exchange for Lyr+. I mean did they have to ask considering the Lyr+ cost more than the Lyr 3.

That's good, as said they'll get you squared away. I think you'll be more than happy with the amp as well 😁

Also, Lyr 3 has a flat - not concave - surface around the socket aperture.

I think gonna ask for a refund of the difference between Lyr + and Lyr 3. The Lyr 3 is doing pretty good with the Psvane MarkII CV181 ( aka cheap version of the Apos ray reserve). The violin sounds sublime on it.

Already got MJ3, no need for SS amp from the Lyr+.

Lyr+ has a bit of a difference to it compared to Lyr 3. This thread has some farther discussion on it

Seems the Lyr+ leans towards the more solid state side of things while the Lyr 3 is more along the tube amp side of things. Not a huge difference though and you can't go wrong with enjoying the 3

My first tube amp. Going pretty good so far. Vyva Melinkolya sounds fantastic.

Very much enjoying my Lyr Plus. Unlike my other amps, there's nothing subtle about its sound. The Tung Sol tube really separates the instruments and surrounds you with them. It's been a great amp to have for older recordings as well as lo-fi stuff. I will say that I don't care for the clickety-click of stepped attenuators but so it goes... The Lyr is a super high value hi-fi amp.

The Lyr+ is here! Starting out with the Linlai E-6SN7. Only a few hours on it, but so far I love it. Did some A/Bing to my Asgard 3. Conclusion so far is that the Asgard is no slouch, but the Lyr+ is better in a few ways, including a wider soundstage, softer treble (which is good for my Hifiman HE1000 V2), and a warmer, slightly bloomy, bass.

I bought a socket saver from Amazon. It’s working but damn was it hard to get the tube in it. Can anyone recommend any socket savers that are a little more user friendly?

Where did you get that spacer between the Lyr and the Bifrost? I could use something just like that.

If you search for "Etsy Schiit Audio stack spacer" you'll see multiple options for silver and black. It was mentioned earlier in this thread, but easier just to search the 'Net. You could omit "Etsy" too, I reckon.

Have you had any issues with this configuration? The maker of this specifically states that the Bifrost AND the Lyr must be on top(for heat dissipation I assume)? What I really need as a way to mount the Lyr and Bifrost to the top of a surface.

You should post to @syr1990 I don't use them, just trying to help out.

Just a vote for the Apos Select tube in the Lyr. The Tung Sol it came with isn't bad but the Apos tube is more refined with more controlled highs. The Tung Sol could be shrill at times.
