Schiit Lokius Impressions & Reviews

I just setup my fresh-from-factory Lokius silver, and the first thing sonically I notice is that with the eq flat, the bypass switch drops the volume noticebly (maybe 3db or so). Becuase of this, a true A/B is impossible. Is this consistent with other's Lokius bypass switches? I've tried the balanced and unbalanced inputs and same thing with both.

EDIT 1: It appears that matching unbalanced and balanced inputs and outputs is the culprit here. Using the unbalanced inputs but the balanced outputs to balanced innputs on the Jot 2 caused this. Unbalanced all the way gets the desired result. Leaving original post in case anyone else notices this and cannot figure out why.

EDIT 2: FWIW my Lokius silver and Vali 3 silver appear to match, though the Lokius still comes with the old-style shiny silver knobs (I purchased six of the newewer matte metal knobs to match the Vali 3 and Jot 2). I wonder if Schiit updated their silver finish on their entire lineup or if some of the current silver models still ship with the older silver finish (thinking of getting a silver Jot 2 to replace my black Jot 2 to match).
Exactly, using unbalanced In/Out is totally transparent in the by-pass mode.

I never liked the stock knobs on my Lokius, so I replaced them with the set of aluminum ones. IMO they look much better, partially because they don't have the alignment issues like those my unit came with.

Here's the link for those who decide to do the same swap. A black version is also available.
*For some reason the link opens correctly on my PC only with the Shift key

Moving ahead three years, the link for these knobs is DOA as expected. Is there a new source for these if anybody knows? Thanks!

The link takes me too Ali. They don't sell them anymore apparently. :hushed:
And since they are a generic volume control, prob tough to find which ones fit the Lokius. Made for electric guitars and such it seems.

Edit>
So I did find some different control knobs. And Schiit makes them! They look different than stock. Plus you can mix in some silver knobs with a black Lokius. Prob look pretty cool.

I gotta go with the knurled Chinese knobs over Schiit's options for sure. I think Schiit has some of the cheapest knobs generally.

I ordered the lokius and the Douk Audio T7 from amazon at the same time. I wound up keeping the T7 because it allowed me to adjust my HD700 and Grado Hemp headphones to a tonality that I liked better than what I was able to achieve with the lokius.
