Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

So in the Byggy List Faq, they have a footnote.

"But I want a Byggy and I'm not an owner and I don't want to wait!
There's always Yggdrasil GS2 in the meantime. Buy now, get on the list, add Singular card when available, save $800 or so on a full Byggy (but you won't get the new USB inputs, DSP card, input card, etc.) Or buy a GS2 and get on the list for a Byggy, you still save $500."

Does anyone know how to purchase that GS2 to save $500 and have them just keep it until they make it a Byggy. I dont care to ship back n forth, when it'll just sit in a box.

Also will that version have "the new USB inputs, DSP card, input card, etc.)" or no?

Appreciate anyones advice. Thanks.

OK I am joining the ranks of the "Retired," albeit involuntarily. My company has informed me my services are no longer required as of 15 May. I'd say it smelled of age discrimination, but the entire semiconductor manufacturing support ecosystem is currently in turmoil and companies like Intel are laying off 20%, so it likely has more to do with business being off significantly. I am not the only one viewing the sharp side of the axe.

In any case, I plan to serve out these last two weeks in a professional short-timer manner, take a couple weeks or months off to depressurize, then figure out what, if anything, comes next. I've already been offered a couple consultant gigs but that decision will come later.

Onward!
Sorry to hear the news, as it was unwanted. My last proper job was when I was 55 and consulting had always appealed, but the unpredictability of cashflow always held me back.

Now, almost 20 years later, it was the best thing I ever did. It did mean forgoing my "toys" and I still miss flying but no regrets. There was a time for that job (and toys) and then time for something new. For me that seems to happen every ten years or so. Let me know if I can help in any way at all.

Thank you. Yea, healthcare is the biggest issue worrying me right now. Fortunately we both qualify for all Medicare has to offer, plus I have some supplemental plans available at very low to no cost through the VFW that I am exploring. But yea, if she ends up in the hospital ICU again with insufficient insurance to cover, then living in our car might be our next retirement plan. :)
We are two weeks - out of three - into living in our car (well hotels, but you know what I mean) and it has been OK. We are at Ms J's 50th college reunion at Pomona having driven 3000 miles from NC. Only 1500 miles - and a week- to go to Salem, OR!

Love a trip. Doesn't have to be mine. Keep reporting man.

Kir Royale! Just drop some of that Cassis into a cold glass of champagne.
Excellent, I often use St-Germain’s for that very purpose but I will try that as well. Maybe American champagne? (I am being facetious of course.)🤪 I stocked up prior to price changes.

Lots of spirits being listed, but I will just be content with my Ales and Lagers.

Cheers!

@Paladin79 I have a bottle of St-Germain's that my daughter gave me a couple of years ago, but I haven't really found a use for it yet. I like the idea of putting it in champagne though (and it's a good thing you stocked up on bubbly--prices are already rising ).

Hm, that cocktail looks delicious too. I need to go to Total Wine this weekend while they still have the sale on for @sixergixer's whiskeys. Checking Total Wine's website they have a reasonably priced bottle of Mathilde cassis. Have you ever had that brand?

@Orange5o I think Camparo Antica is a must have too. Best sweet vermouth I've tasted, and it's my preference for both Manhattans and Boulevardiers.

I doubt Schiit would play ball with this. Seems like a slightly larger version of gaming the system. However. I am not Schiit. They will be going thru the list, after which, standard upgrades will still be available after.

I also have to imagine there are no plans for a GS with the new gear. That’s what differentiates the two.

@Paladin79 Difford’s Guide does a great job breaking recipes out by ingredient.

The El Diablo is another nice Cassis using cocktail.
Thanks for the info! My son is quite the mixologist but not always easy to reach. I generally sample what he makes and learn to prepare my favorites. On any given occasion his home bar may have twelve types of gin, scotch arranged by region, five types of apple jack, fifteen types of tequila an mescal and three types of beer on tap.🤪

I'd like to get those circular ones for my family BBQ set for 6/14. What are they called? I work hard at it, and will be pooped out by that day.
