Cool. I read the Ghost Town Living book. Cerro Gordo - cool mining town....

The cup is always full of something, unless you are in a vacuum, then you are most likely dead and it doesn't matter...The optimist thinks of the cup to be half full.
The pessimist thinks of the cup to be half empty.
Me, personally, I'm a realist. I leave early so that I don't have to wash all of those glasses.![]()
After u buy it back!If I bought a Yggy from Schiit new but then later sold it can I get on the early bird list?
Never heard of that firmware upgrade, and never noticed the ringing before yesterday either. Since I was at first listening to a CD I unearthed and didn’t know I had, I thought I was hearing a harpsichord in the mix that I never noticed on streaming. CDs do sound better! …uh, the tone on that doesn’t change…it’s more of an echo…crap something’s busted. An hour later I narrowed it down and at least I wasn’t just hallucinating. The Ringing is most likely the known firmware issue when switching bitrates while playing. I have noticed it in left channel mostly. There is a firmware update for it and a reboot resets it as well. I personally have not bothered getting the firmware updates for my MMBs.
Any tweak or upgrade to a chain can end up highlighting something you never noticed before (for better or for worse).Never heard of that firmware upgrade, and never noticed the ringing before yesterday either. Such are the joys of this hobby.
That's what, about $6 worth? Sweet! It is too nice out here to be indoors. Finnegan is out with me as I check more samples for gold.
The heavy rains we expect will help.![]()
+2 here.+1 for Affinity. Great products. Don’t miss PS at all
Cookie was trying to chime in with her thoughts, but she's still really bad at typing. Like me.As is Ink.

IIRC, my Head-Amp GS-X mk II is equipped with a DACT stepped attenuator that only has 24 steps and I've found it to be sufficient. I guess that's not entirely true since it has 3x gain settings, so it's kinda like having 72 steps, but not really.I've been meaning to ask about your stepped attenuators. The more steps, the more complexity? Is that a linear thing (twice the steps, twice the complexity) or worse?
'Cause I feel like 128 steps isn't enough; says a man who's best preamp only has 66 steps![]()
Only maybe $150-$175 but that was just from two small shovel fulls as samples. I have one of those small trenching tools like the military uses. 15-20 minutes of work but my panning skills will improve. That's what, about $6 worth? Sweet!![]()

For any Blues fans out there, you might enjoy an album which was recommended to me by a friend last week.
It is called ‘Glimmer of Gold’ by Baba Blues.
He discovered it on Qobuz.
Very hard to find on CD or vinyl.
The version on Qobuz sounds absolutely stunning!
I believe it was remastered from the ‘original source’ by Cutting Room AB in Sweden.
Incredibly atmospheric!

How will it behave with Forkbeard, when connected to a sys or kara f? You need Forkbeard on the whole system to get visual volume, right? Is there a way to say "yes you have forkbeard, but keep your volume at 100%, because there's a preamp"?Yep, with Forkbeard, just leave it at full volume, balance set to center, and EQ mode set to flat, and you’ll have “just a DAC.”
Without Forkbeard, that’s what it will default to out of the box.
