Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

That's 'cause you've advanced to a level of existence where electronics and transducers are no longer necessary....just brainwaves. 🤣

Hmmm. So it's the audiophile version of tantric sex. 🤔

The wooden headshells look great.

I have about half a dozen headshells with an assortment of MM and MC carts fitted, so that I can easily change cart.

I found it very fiddly connecting the wires from each cart to the pins at the back of each headshell, so I haven’t fitted one for many months- certainly not every day!
I just keep long nose pliers close by and generally I am dealing with new sets of connectors. I am also only busy with them right now because of my builds. Once everyone is happy I will move on to something else.🤪 My upbringing causes me to help others when I can and I love doing it, within reason.

As long as I can try various hardwood types I do not get bored.

Quantum acoustics are measured in nano decibels..
And that weird Listen In Another Room metric begins to actually make sense because quantum audio simultaneously exists in that room too! 😁

A little trick I learned from the Ortofon guys on YouTube... with the stylus guard in place, hold the cartridge between your thumb and forefinger and use tweezers / tiny needle-nose pliers to put the wires on the pins BEFORE you mount the cartridge. Makes it easy to arrange the wires and get things in place before you mount the cartridge to the head-shell / arm. YMMV but it really worked for me.

Doing it before mounting is key. Me personally, I like to use my fingers instead of tweezers.

I always put the wire on first, it makes the most sense.😉 The connectors I use fit so snugly that fingers or tweezers would not work.

Only if you're a dBarbarian. Quantum Audio levels are measured in PUSS. (Planck Unit Sone Standard) 🤣
Gawd. I only hope this doesn't make it onto the Schiit sine wave.

Well Schiit-wise the Stjarna was released as well as the Gungnir 2 and we soon the Valhalla 3. You can look up ForkBeard on the Schiit site and read up on @Armchairphilosopher’s work with Schiit.

Personally I was asked about wooden headshells for turntable cartridges so I made some of those. Otherwise the usual talk about Barbies, bourbon, tubes, music, and so on. 🤪

Maybe a bit more talk about turntables and cartridges since the release of Stjarna?
Oh and maybe the Gigastack and Wotan since you were last here?
I'm now in a home that is VERY electrically quiet. Existing kit can all be run less aggressively. Ambient-background noise from outside? Nah. Nearfield listening all time time. More turntables? Wotan? Gigastack. V3? G2? ForkBeard? Not for me. Now getting a mighty horn (Gjallarhorn)... that might happen.

Our wood pellet boiler is German. The inverters (yes, we put in 2 modules for redundancy and capacity) and PV-modules are French. Our small bedroom A/C is Japanese. Our backup GENERAC genny is from Wisconsin (sorry, USA). Batteries and PV panels are from China. The battery shed's kept comfortable by an Italian heat-pump. It's amazing it all seems to all (mostly) work together seamlessly.

Let's see if my Schiit audio gear's power supplies can tolerate the less than perfect sine wave generated by the French! Appreciated the well-wishes, eh. BTW - my fellow Canadians on the thread. APRIL 28, 2025. Remember what Kim Mitchell (Max Webster) advises us = DO YOUR ROCK AND ROLL DUTY (VOTE).
