Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I love Debussy piano works! 😻 I have long loved this album by Alan Planès. I shall check out Michelangelli -- my exposure to him has been minimal so far.

By far, my favorite 'thing' with Martha involved is the Allegretto - Adagio from the Shostakovich Piano Trio No 2, performed live with her friends Gidon Kremer (another longtime favorite of mine) and Mischa Maisky. I think I've shared my love of this recording here before but I'll say it again: This performance, and particularly this movement, showcases some of the greatest and merriest and most joyful musicmaking I have heard anywhere in any genre. It is thrilling!

Oh, and I only have checks. Does that work? 😉
Found the recording of the piano trio. Beautiful indeed. I have always been a great fan of Shostakovich piano quintet. Especially the recording of the Borodin Quartet with Elisabeth Leonskaja.

I always appreciate a good suggestion. 🤙🏻

Sixer: Queues up Steven Wilson's latest, The Overview. He sits in a nice meditative calmness as music shifts and warps and progresses across a length of time that feels satisfying and complete. And then proceeds to discover that was Track 1 and there are still 11 tracks to go.

[Checks watch]

"Yeah, ok, I'm still in this. Let's go."

Has he ever done a 22 minute song before?
My copy is due to be delivered today. Looking forward to giving it a spin.
The latest album from Throwing Muses arrived yesterday, and that’s a mere 29 minutes long.

I lol'd out loud seeing that, at 1h 24m, it is just about double the length of most full albums released these days. But when the concept of this concept album is the sheer scale of space, a really long runtime is only appropriate.

Oh, and to not give much away, it's just more excellence from SW. 😉

“Careless Love” by Madeleine Peyroux sounds amazing through the Valhalla 2 on a pair of Shennheiser HD6XX

Yeah. I absolutely love the HD600 through the Valhalla 2.

The Rockford Files had a great theme song. I loved that synth.

I also loved the theme for The Waltons.

And the Dukes of Hazard. Love Waylon..

Hold...................................................................................................................

.....now.

(And no, you don't have to buy anything else.)
This is excellent information. When the blanks are filled in the “meh” will change to something like Schiit Yeah.

I want to rave about this feature.

I do appreciate the very minimalist slick interface. An art seemingly lost by many.

Those aren’t blanks. Those are pauses.

Imagine Jason biting his tongue in those pauses and you get a rough idea as to how much he’d love to shout into the world what that next update to Forkbeard and the associated products looks like.

It’s a big one for us. The training wheels are coming off in a few weeks.

This is a long shot, but I'd love to see you guys as the CanJam London 2025. We need to see Schiit represented.

Even if you guys can't make it, surely Mark in the UK (UK dealer) could bring a Schiit stack over to London on that weekend.

Since I'll be in attendance the full weekend, I'd happy don a Schiit t-shirt and look after the demo units....

You appear to have excellent taste in music... Love Over Gold is my 29th most listened to album on Roon. Avalon is 41st. If you also have English Settlement (XTC) and Security (Peter Gabriel) in your list of favorites, we must be kindred spirits or something (or both listened to college/alternative radio in the early 1980s at least.) I find it interesting that the majority of my favorite bands/albums are from the UK with a just a sprinkling of US acts even though I was born, raised, and have lived my entire life on the west coast of the United States.
I like Avalon, Love Over Gold, English Settlement and Security, so maybe we are kindred spirits...

I grew up listening to music here in the UK in the 70s.

That means it's probably unsurprising that the majority of my favourite bands/musicians are from the UK, but there are a lot from the United States, including a few from the west coast, notably The Beach Boys.

Surf's Up would always make my top 10 all-time favourite albums.
I just love it!

Nationality of artists is irrelevant to me; I like artists from just about every corner of the globe.

I like lots of Canadian artists- especially Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot.

Then there are the Aussie bands- AC/DC, Crowded House etc etc

I totally agree about Canadians but would include Leonard Cohen.

I certainly listened to the Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, and the Who but I would add the Hollies, Animals, Kinks, Manfred Mann, Yardbirds, and even the Dave Clark Five.😉
I best not leave out the Moody Blues.

Mid sixties and early seventies for me.

You will absolutely love Kara.

Give it a long go on 4x. That's the gain setting I prefer on mine. :grinning:
I also leave it powered up 24/7.
I received Kara F & Gungnir 2 about an hour ago. Needless to say that everything was prepared to fire them up and make quick test.

Two sources connected at the moment. My Audio-PC (Intel NUC 11th gen with Windows 10, Tidal App and Jriver MC for my local stuff) via Unison 384 and the TV via Toslink.

Since I haven't heard my main system since early October there will be no serious listening in the next days. Played some light stuff while setting everything up .. some Iron Maiden, Manowar, Judas Priest, Scorpions.

Without Android support (looking at Martin) I used my business Iphone to set up Forkbeard. Liking it already. Used the sample rate indicator to check the PCs settings.

Planning on keeping everything powered on for the next couple of days weeks to have it burn in nicely.

Have to think about rack placement, too.

My wife and I were lucky to see him play in Birmingham about 10 years ago.

The concert was absolutely brilliant!

Indeed. 7.2.4, with eventually Tyr F running the front mains. By my count will be running 8 piece Forkbeard stack by then (9 if Jord?). Will be a beast of a setup by fall-ish. Electricians just wrapped today on adding 3 circuits and surge protector) and drywall guy getting close. The real schiit was removing a 22x4' wall of mirrors, and scraping popcorn (80's built house)

Nice! I was considering pulling the trigger on a few last call Kraken for my 7.4.1 (or .3 - using the rear subs only for my 2.1 setup at the moment due to some hum when they were hooked up) Atmos setup, but that would just lead down the road of having to upgrade the rear and height speakers and then it's not really about "saving" anymore... Anyway, those speakers mostly have the least "interesting" content so I decided to not go down that road.

I haven't had much time to ask. Which versions of Android are expected to support ForkBeard?
