I must mention "In Absentia"! Crazy good album, and a go-to pretty much weekly for me.
I agree 100%...! When I drive to work (an hour each way), it's usually the disc in my CD player. Tool as well. Plus, the IQ release, "The Road of Bones". Another modern Prog classic...! 🤓

Yes. We believe in an old school education. If it was good enough for us older adults it should be good for the kids today. After all, we turned out just fine.

No namby-pamby interactive screens or laser printer copiers. Sniffing mimeograph chemicals and inhaling chalk dust while beating erasers will put lead in your pencil and hair on your chest.
It's what made Texas Schools great and will make them great once more.

😜
I LOVED the smell of the mimeograph!!!! The smaller the room, the better. Of course, my wife will tell you that this explains everything ........

And to chip into the expanded musical horizons, after a time spent exploring Porcupine Tree, I've had a soothing evening with this crowd.

The_Sixteen_Palastrina_1.jpg

The Sixteen (UK choral group specialising in Renaissance and polyphony) with their first (of nine) volume of music by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-1592).

Not a growl to be heard.

In the interest of expanded musical minds, and piggybacking off recent metal discussions, I offer British post-metal/black metal band Svalbard as I happened to just receive this beauty in the mail today. This one veers into that folksy melodic black metal vein I mentioned earlier with tasteful growly hardcore vocals that enhance the drive and rhythm of the music, and the music itself develops well--it goes somewhere and does something as it tells its story. Interspersed are some lovely interludes with female (normal) vocals and soaring guitar lines. Some energetic bass grooves and fiery drumming, too! This album can be a very good gateway into the black metal genre.

In fact, this band's label, Translation Loss, has a very good roster of bands to explore. Not all are to my taste but Un, Oryx, Wake, Grayceon, and We Lost The Sea are bands that have intrigued me quite a bit over the last handful of years I've been wandering the black metal paths. Cheers!
I’ve just had a listen to the first song on this album, and I’m impressed. Will play the whole thing tomorrow. It could be one to purchase, but being retired I have to try before I buy.
Thanks for sharing. 🎸

Will check this out. Not typically a fan of black metal, but I do enjoy the first album from Batushka. It’s on the heavier side, so let that be a warning for those not into growling type of vocals.

As for Opeth, saw them live last summer and they were amazing. Demon of the Fall is my jam, but I like their more mellow stuff as well. Funny guys, too, and put on a great show. And since this is an audiophile forum, the record quality on their albums is just suberb.

So, you're saying that I should not let their app dev team write the Android Forkbeard app for us? 🤔
I'll take them long before Delta. That Android app is a mess. AirFrance and KLM isn't bad, but Austrian Air and Lufthansa seems to be the best (although the KLM cheese sandwiches are better than Biscoff cookies).

But are they better than the Biscoff cookie butter?
Because that stuff is gooey crack in jars.

So I had some life changes that lowered my budget for my DAC upgrade on my modius e in my main headphone stack at my listening station, so I couldn't get Gungnir 2 as originally planned. What I did get is Bifrost 2/64 in silver. And I am so excited for it to pair with my Pietus Maximus, feeding it music from my Node Icon. This is my first multibit or r2r style dac (aka my first non delta sigma dac) and I am so stoked. Should come in later this week. Will be updating then.

The username comes from raiding in MMORPGs—my guild had killed a raid boss and I promised the guild could rename my main character. One of the people in the guild just said the word Pumpy outloud in mumble, and then it just went down from there. The characters full name was ColonelPumpy. I dropped the colonel when I left the game and figured I didn’t need to confuse people and think I had any military service.

I'll just leave this here for anyone that goes to their local gas station for culinary delights.

"Give me $40 on pump #8, two packs of Marlboros, and a pound of that there Texas BBQ."

Just “asking”
