Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Probably quite trivial to implement on a technical level.

However... as a philosophical, perceptual task, we can't expect mere circuitry to reliably make the judgement call on what is music. Especially with the fringe cases.

For example, @bcowen wants to play the latest M. Manson recording. Not unlikely the forking watchdog would flag it as a system abuser fault, brick all the schiit and notify the appropriate authorities about the auditory crime of the century. Maybe just go with signal-sensing instead. 🤣
It should also notify the authorities about @bcowen's crimes against humanity.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I'm not so sure about using the font for arbitrary user assigned names ("Living Room", "My DAC"). The font makes sense for Schiit product names ("Gungnir", "Yggdrasil") because it's almost like a logo for that product. However as demonstrated above, seeing "Living Room" in the font makes you pause and have to interpret it.
Use a cursive font, and only those over 55 years old will be able to use it. That keeps the complaining GEN?? folks away.

Yup those Apogee's have aged like fine wine, the amp too. Very pleasant time, and we also talked about some of the other folks from back when, including using some of the same cuts we used for comparisons back then.

Yeah soon you get to hear the BMR's,which I am glad to have found, and thanks to Dennis Murphy the designer of crossovers for Salk for years and the developer of the fine BMR Philharmonic line which similar to Schiit sells direct, and his purpose is to offer the best at really sane prices.

All I can say is my next headphone purchase is going to wait for a good long time.

No connection with them besides a satisfied customer.
The man designs one smooth crossover. And I really love the Raal ribbon tweeter.

2.1 listening all the way 👍👍👍

I've actually recreated that font (sort of) in the Forkbeard app. The name of your stack will show up in that font. And you'll also be able to rename your gear (especially useful when you have two mono blocks and need to know which is which), which will also use this font.

Now cue all the complaints about "I can't read that dang font!" ;p
If you've got ampy amp, wouldn't it be daffy dac and pepe pre????

Edit: pepe le' pre

I have every confidence that the ForkMaster* will make intelligent design decisions, unlike this one. 🤣

(* For Martin's (un)official new title, the committee voted overwhelmingly for ForkMaster, which I too prefer over MasterBearder )

Hey Siri. Turn on the ForkBeard stack.
OK. Would you like a spoon and knife too?
Or a comb?

... it just turns itself on when it detects a signal and turns itself off if there's been no signal for a set period of time. ... sub does the same. ..
... adding a music-sense feature to future amplifiers.
"music sensing" amps never worked properly for me. I much prefer the 12v trigger option when implemented "the normal way."

Something that works with the Emotiva ET-3 would get my $.

My local group uses a specific amp with 12 v triggering and amazing internal sensors but they run nearly $7,000 and overkill for most homeowners. Even 200 watts into 8 ohms is plenty for most end users.

I've never been a fan of talking to inanimate objects.
I've come to believe the entire world is populated by mad people talking to themselves....

Thanks. An iPad would be preferable given my vision. For someone not into the Apple world, which models fall into the 2019 and onwards category?
I am doing a version of what you want to do. I’m running a Wiim Ultra straight to Aegir 2F with output to two Sonus faber Lumina 1’s. I bought an iPad version 9 recently to be solely for music control. The iPad Mini is a doll, but cost like $399. The brand new but older version 9 was $199 on sale. Bigger? Yup, by a bunch but I couldn’t see spending double just for that pretty little small look. YMMV.
