Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Dude... let me tell you... I tried. Their previous music system was an iPad sending free Spotify to a JBL Bluetooth speaker, so... massive upgrade. The system is downstairs in their family room, and they generally do the L.I.A.R. thing on the mid-level of the house, so it essentially a mono presentation. #nottheapogees :)
Everything is relative. I can set up Martin Logan speakers at my fire pit but some Infinity Bluetooth speakers are so much easier to carry lol. Or even a DeepBlue 250 watt Bluetooth setup.🤪

At live classical concerts, unless I'm sitting in the first few rows, if I close my eyes I can only point in the general direction of a solo player. The origin of the sound is quite diffuse and there is no "holographic soundstage" that audiophiles talk about. I've never listened to a Bose 901 but being able to point to a solo player is not necessarily "realistic" sound.
I bet you never point above you or behind you, however. 😁

I'm in the mood for some Pappy. If anyone would like to send me a bottle of Pappy 23, I might send them some nice tubes. Might. Some decisions are hard. 🤣 🤣
If you want Pappy just pour some of your favorite bourbon into a glass and add smoke flavor.

Pretty much the same thing.

FWIW, and FWR, I slightly prefer the WiiM over coax to my Gumby than over Toslink. I do think they'll be releasing a streamer in the future with USB out, but no idea when.

You've set your WiiM for bitperfect playback with all equalization disabled and fixed output at 100%, yes? There are a couple other settings that can affect the stream as well. With Qobuz, I believe when they get their Connect functionality sorted, the entire user experience with streamers like WiiM will be much nicer overall.
Not sure that I've ever heard optical S/PDIF (Toslink) sound better than coax in any situation. YMMV of course.

I was thinking more of the Ramones. Blitzkrieg Bop and similar. I could put on Marilyn Manson so they would hurry to get finished and away from the sound.🤪
Lol! But only fair to say if you had Blitzkrieg Bop playing *I'd* be running away....fast. Mostly in fear that some old dude would come flying across the lawn in his motorized wheelchair shaking his cane wildly in the air and oblivious that the flaps of his Depends were waving in the breeze. A life safety decision, mostly. 🤣 🤣

Would it be insane to use the Mjolnir 3 as a preamp into Vidar OG into Sendy Aiva? Planars need power, right?
MJ3 is an amazing preamplifier into my stereo OG Aegir driving loudspeakers, so... no. You are not crazy.

Toslink was designed for 48k but can hit 24/96. There is also plenty of plastic Toslink but I only use glass fiber.

Yeah Tom I know that there is a place and a time for all gear if you truly love music. Well, maybe not ALL gear, there's that cardboard schitt that Bill is hawking, along with his $64 PvW. I am well acquainted with the JBL Charge series, esp. the larger versions, and they sound great in many cases and places.

Oh geeez. Cardboard 101: not all cardboard is created equally. No offense intended of course, but your 'collection' is worth about the same as a collection of 1990's era Chinese tubes. Or maybe 1/8 of a drop of Pappy. 🤣 🤣
So, GE?

I'm wondering if that's a bit of projection?

Seriously? If you haven't heard my new drivers you don't know what you're missing. 🤣

I do not like running tube gear in my shop because of sawdust and heat build up. I also just run various Elac bookshelf speakers with a subwoofer. The space is not geared toward a great musical experience.😜

I use it as a preamp into either my OG Aegir or OG Vidar. They're both driving speakers, though.

I think that the MJ3 makes a fine preamp. With the right music it can create a HUGE soundstage, even with my favourite FM station as the source.

As usual, YMMV.
