Many thanks to @Senex49 for a WE 396A. I receive an occasional gift and this one is amazing!
Listening to Bill Evans’ Empathy. I will do a tube comparison once each tube gets some play time. Fun stuff, tubes and music on a rainy day.🤪IMG_7889.jpeg

Ok Getz Girl from Ipanema is incredible first listen! Soundstage is remarkable.
There are several things that keep me coming back to this forum. One is finding some music that is incredible. Thanks Tom.

Another reason is revealed in the following link. After seeing that many years ago my internet posting fell by 90%, but I'm still working on it.

Duty Calls

Hana to VPI, VPI to Schiit Skoll via balanced, Skoll to McIntosh C50 via balanced, McIntosh C50 to McIntosh MC152 via balanced, McIntosh C152 to Sonus faber Sonetto VIII. It sounds amazing.
I bet it does. Had I not fallen totally in Love with the Apogees way back in the day, I’d have likely ended up with CJ/ARC/McIntosh Tube Pre and Power into a Premium dynamic (e.g. your Sonus)…

The ribbon seductress hooked me hard. You have given me great confidence that Skoll and Kara will indeed, scale.

Skoll really helped, though I will upgrade to Stjarna when that comes out.

I was fortunate to hear Sonus Fabers with my tube amp so I stopped searching after that. 🤪 There are very few amp and speaker combinations I have not heard (that are in the mainstream), turntables are another matter. I have heard my five favorite DACs with my main system so I have a little knowledge there.

One last motorcycle picture from me. This is me with my Tom Selleck mustache (I was in the Navy at this time and it was cool) with my 4-year-old daughter April, on the only brand-new bike I ever bought. 1980 KZ1000 with a then-styling Windjammer fairing. :) Riding in N. California, picture taken one-handed with a Kodak instamatic by my friend Roy who rode up alongside us.

Ahh. Memories. Way, way back when I was an instructor. We had a contract job with a municipal PD that had bought KZ 1000s and was starting a motor officer corps. We used the CHiPs syllabus. Fun bike to ride (especially whe you are doing cop trining and there are no speed limits).

I will neither confirm nor deny that it could go fast enough to hydroplane the front wheel on dry pavement, leaving the rider without front steering control. :)

I am old enough that at 16, in Montreal, I got my GM rating auto with drivers licence, they stoped that the next year. That’s unlimited motorcycle licence. But I sensed it would end badly and stuck with 4 wheels.
