Genesis' "A Trick of the Tail" on yellow vinyl

Dead silent LP surface, and a really great recording. Highly recommended!!!

Plus it looks cool too. <g>
Indeed! ... and no DJ 'scratching' ... 😳🤣

Being a UConn fan since the early 70s, and a season ticket holder for about 10 years in the 90s, its was an awesome game, tournament run and season. Purdue scored 2 baskets total from outside the paint.
Our daughter graduated from UCONN in ‘20, this was a great year. Woulda been better had the women also won, but you can’t have it all.

The cherry on top for my speaker rig would be an Urd, but that will have to wait now that we've dropped $7K on an engine replacement at 50,000 miles. ☹️

Perhaps a Vali 3 will make me feel better. 😁
It will. But that motor’ll still hurt…

The biggest problem I see today aside from your typical white, grey, black, blue color options…

Nobody makes anything with style these days.
Yes, they all offer the white option. Usually for free.

What you should do is go for the colour of the cars on the brochure. Even though it usually costs a premium, it makes the car’s design stand out the most. This comparison would look much different then.

First rides in two Teslas (a model S and a Model 3) this past week. Both of them were extremely noisy (road noise) in the cabin. Is this normal?

Nota bene: Neither had Schiit equipment in them (other than the Vali 3 that was in my backpack).
I rode in an Audi EV a few days ago. It seemed very quiet and low road noise. This was city streets, 45mph at most. Light classical music was playing.
... and then I hear faint whine that increased in pitch and volume in acceleration, and the opposite in deceleration. It might have been 'added' sound to alert pedestrians. I am used to listening to music with a internal combustion engine and hearing that kind of sound. It is a different sound than musical sounds, and easy to separate it out from any music being played, put in a corner of me mind and ignored.
This Audi sound was a pitch, a tone, something more akin to a musical sound. And that was the problem! I couldn't separate it out from the music.
Who knew?

I would say that you were hearing the sound of the electric drivetrain, which does sound like a faint whine and changes pitch with speed. The pedestrian warning sound (customised by each manufacturer) is mandated only below 18 mph (30 kph), and usually sounds more complex, like chord tones. A consideration is that without the need to overcome the noise of a combustion engine, the music was probably playing at a lower volume than you would hear in a petrol car. Personally I find listening to music in the quieter EV interior easier than over the din of a petro engine. I think that as your mind becomes accustomed to the sound of the electric motor, it learns to block it out.

My last two Ford Mustangs were sold (running) with over 300k miles on their original engines. There's something to be said for synthetic oil (and regular maintenance  ).
Yep. Bought the car new. Full synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles -- didn't wait for the change oil indicator. Fully serviced per the maintenance schedule. I take care of my cars and have never had any issues with the many Fords I've owned throughout my life. Sadly, the wife's Escape 2.0 liter motor had a design flaw that can compromise the head gasket allowing coolant into the cylinder and into the oil. The issue was not a lack of service or maintenance. Quite a few 2015-2018 Escape owners have suffered the same fate. My mechanic alone has replaced 10 engines on Escapes in that year range with the 2.0 liter motor. :frowning2:

I'm dangerously close to pulling the trigger on a Vali 3.

But the issue is the relative sameness of the silhouettes. It makes for a rather dull selection.

That is like saying "all headphones are the same - they have two earpads".

And the image shows SUVs, the general form is the same but they're far from being the same (see my original post). And there are other vehicle forms than just SUVs which also benefit from a colour other than white.

Well...the actual intent of the picture (as I've seen discussed several times on various on automotive forums) is to highlight how similar current automotive design language is across manufacturers. Superficial colour and interior variations are irrelevant to silhouette. Headphones are non sequitur as they are small devices with very limited design options. The pics below are a humourous (to me) way of saying that there are options for creativity in design, but with CAD/CAM, aerodynamics being king, and conservatism in design on the part of the auto manufacturers, there is a bland sameness and much copying among brands and models.

I do miss our old Honda Element. Zero aerodynamics and you could haul a ton of things in its square cargo area, and clean it out with a leaf blower and wet mop.
