Just bought a matched quad set from Viva Tubes to roll my Freya+ and it sounds absolutely glorious, a complete transformation from the stock JJs, so I'd say safe place to get them.

They don't seem to carry octal tube savers, so I recommend getting some if running Psvane CV181-T MkIIs on the Freya+ because without socket savers, the tubes only engage about 2/3 of the way down on the pins due to their shape.

I do have a PSVane arriving from Alibaba in about an hour so we will see how that transaction goes. I have built my own socket savers in the past and most likely will again. I sealed quite a few of them in PVC during a blind tube test and while the tubes could be salvaged, the savers could not.IMG_0638.jpegIMG_0977.jpeg

I should build more sometime.

Well packaged, proper box, sounds very good on initial listen, but I will know more after some burn in. This is the PSVane 6sn7-SE. Path is Qobuz/Gumby/Lokius/Incubus Elegan/Focal Utopia. Power tube today is a JAN Chatham 6AS7G. Album is Temptation by Holly Cole. The new tube shows promise.

Oh $41.72 total cost, others I find range from $73-$109 each. The amp I am using is quite discerning and this sure sounds like the real deal. Now finding it again on Alibaba's search system is difficult lol. Best I can do is type in PSVANE and start searching. Any other descriptive term gets me a flood of non related product.

A week now visiting the grandkids. Went into arrears on this thread, finally caught up. In time to leave Saturday for family holiday in Wales. Expecting to get behind again.

Yes, Asgard 2 and HiFiMan, Grado and many others as mentioned.

I am old school also and do not cotten to two volume controls in a chain. Maybe I should reconsider.

More tubes, too many discussed that I do not own.

Son and I went out to a pub for Tim Taylor draft and football. Home team “Leeds” won 3 - 1. This is serious stuff here.

Just made family recipe pimiento cheese with 4 & 1/2 year old granddaughter.

Four adults going out tonight, sitter with kids 😀

Decided to treat myself to a new Vali as reward for being grandad.

Live long and whatever….
I miss Timothy Taylor. Not something I can get over here in the US.

Yes, one of my favorites when I visit family in UK.
I can get Old Speckled Hen and one of the pubs here in Pittsburgh has Fullers London Pride on tap most of the time. They have also occasionally had Spitfire and Harvey's Best Bitter on tap.

Can't go wrong with Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale, my favorite.

newcastle decent for 'regular liquor stores'.

Winding up a week at the beach with the grandkids and the winning libations are….
IMG_4226.jpeg

My last 2000 Les Forts, bricking, tertiary notes but easily another ten years or more in it. The pencil, cigar box and cedar that were so laser focused and separate in its youth are still there but softened and blended, what a treat. The Green Spot Montelena zin finish is no gimmick. It’s damn easy to drink. Smoov and worth every penny.
I need to make up a traveling Schiit case like I’ve seen posted here before. A week does seem a long time without a Schiit.
