Just a little mini rack build for @artur9, black walnut and birdseye maple.
Oh, no, it's surrounded by red & yellow spies...

Gorgeous work, I couldn't have imagined anything more better :)

I did not say that. It is true though. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Well, I demand a double blind test and error protocols within some fancy sounding sigma thingy!

I am not ashamed to admit that my eyes hear my music as much as my ears see. Or, is that the drugs speaking?

You can still buy 5670s for a reasonable price--GE, Sylvania go for less than $20. 396A? As soon as you say Western Electric, everything jumps an order of magnitude.

I got my GE JAN 5670W at HK$100, good price and it sounds very good to my ears too ....

So I've been rotating through the different free trials on the streaming sites and today marks day 1 of Qobuz.

I gotta say that it sounds the best off the rip I think!
I moved to Qobuz from Tidal after several years of general happiness with Tidal (other than MQA).

Almost immediately, I found that I really preferred the SQ of Qobuz. I still do.

The only real system changes were swapping OG Yggy A2 for Yggy MiB... but I have heard both services stream to both DACs, and Qobuz delivers a more dynamic and accurate stream 'o bits regardless of Yggy variant IMHO.

Okay, I’m not entirely convinced the mythical WE 396 is significantly better than the Moffat suggested GE 5670.

If you score a WE396 for sane prices, I can see the allure. But I think the more accessible GE5670 is pretty spectacular.

Based on a post upthread by @Ripper2860 , the other day I added this cable (though mine is the rhodium plated variant) to my Amazon cart as part of a large order and it was delivered this morning. Sucker is heavy! Very well-made by all appearances; great packaging too, fwiw. I'm using it with my Jot2...talk about cable-size overkill, LMAO.

I had to cut a piece of dense (yet pliable) packing foam to place under the cable right next to the IEC connector to prevent undue cable sagging on the amp side. Looks like crap, but does the job. I've been there, done that with cables during my early, teens and twenties, years on head-fi....as always, YMMV with cables and I'll leave it at that. Still, this one is no worse made than some others I've seen/used in the past, and at a tiny fraction of the cost, but yeah, no fairy dust sprinkled on this one.

Good quip there RCB! :)

In fact quite haxellent of you! Not quite as haxellent as Finnigan's woodworking.

And also, and most importantly, a worthy new audio descriptor.....as in "great meaty sound"..........in a word the original Yggy was "haxellent"!
... but how does Yggy fare with haxophone? 🎷 🤪

Just purchased this from Craft Recordings. Thanks to whomever originally suggested it! I'll have to buy from Craft in the future.

What were you using for source on Tidal? I ask because I find it to be very good on Windows with exclusive mode enabled. Some other options I use maybe aren't quite as good (casting Android to WiiM Pro), but I don't use those options when listening critically. I'm somewhat "in bed" with Tidal due to being a Plex lifetime subscriber, but I only listen to Plex/Tidal music in the car and on portable devices where the resolution isn't high enough to tell the difference. My Plex use at home is nearly 100% video.
