Wildly fantastic Joe Henderson album and I'm only on the second track. Excellent mastering from Craft (duh, of course it is). Herbie ripping through that elec'y piano is 🥵

EDIT: Jack DeJohnette must've gone through about ten drum heads just recording the last track. Whooo-weee!!!

Well, Vali 3 photos are finished. I think I'm going to hold off on the official release until Monday, but if you guys are bored, I can make it live and put up the chapter now. What do you think?

Edit: oh heck I know what you think. I'll just make it live and post the chapter. Internal photo still pending.

Not bored, only waiting for the new chapter, while listening to music playback by the exisiting Schiit equipment and viewing the flight boards and wonderful wood work by @Paladin79 ~~
By the way, the Vali 3 still using the same wallwart as the Vali 2++ but alternation at the circuit to make the 100V rails?

@Jason Just curious.. How do you pull this off?

Only a couple of months ago I bought a Mjolnir3 amp, one of the finest pieces of audio I ever used. Lots of music to listen to that I've not yet heard through this amp.. Really enjoying the journey.
And than you introduce this sexy little tube amp, expecting me to want one? (Spoiler alert: I really, really do! )

Why? Why do I want one? No way it will sound better than the Mjolnir, right? Makes no sense whatsoever..

I was in the middle of deciding whether or not to upgrade my Aegir OG to an Aegir2, now this.. Does it ever stop?

My bank-account already dislikes you..

(Please keep it up though, I can't wait for Valhalla3 :beerchug:)

As long as we're doing Vali 2 porn... 🤣 🤣

Oddly enough I am not sure I ever ran a Melz in a Vali, I had a LYR and various other amps that took 6SN7 equivalents. I had even gone to 6SN7’s in my Bottlehead Crack. IMG_4126.jpeg

Eventually for me it got down to building an amp where I could better hear differences in 6SN7’s as well as passing on that ability to those who may never have heard a tube amp before.

My Aegir 2 arrived last Friday. Unboxed it, had a first listening session, pushed it hard (and put it into protection mode) and then lowered the volume back down to listen at normal levels. Straight out of the box, I liked it. Have listened to it for the past 3 nights and have really enjoyed it. I have it paired with a Freya+ running in tube mode (NOS Sylvania tubes) feeding a pair of Devore Gibbon Nines (91db sensitivity at 8 ohms). Source is Holo Audio Red streamer into a Denafrips Pontus 2. The amp is quiet but dynamic, has great bass, and is a lot of fun to listen to. Instruments and voices sound natural and the soundstage is wide and layered. Jason said that the Aegir 2 is a better sounding amp and my initial impressions are definitely in line with that -- at least to me in my system.

I've been trying to find it a mate, but weddings are so very expensive these days.
Single tubes are fine. At least they don’t keep complaining about their partners all the time… 😏

But an unused WE396A? That’s borderline tube abuse. 😒

I’m happy to take it off your hands if you don’t want to appreciate its glory. 😁

I don't remember trying a Melz in the Vali either. Vali 2 sounds really good with a ribbed plate Foton, which means the Melz will sound.........different. 🤣
