Hey, Jason, how about catering to the growing 8-track market? As in...

Oh, wait, Schiit doesn't do portables. Sorry.
Bill Lear was an icon of the 20th century, most noted for the Lear Jet and those tape cartridges. But he also had a go at reviving the steam-powered automobile.
Ha! I had a Lear Jet 8 track tape deck in my 1966 Corvette!
Never thought I would see Bill Lears mention again!!
Sweet!

8 track tapes, the ultimate loop of music. When I got back to the States and out of hospital I bought my first new car. A left over, beige, 1968 VW Beetle for $1,995.00. I fabricated a speaker enclosure that filled the entire cargo area behind the rear seat. I put 6 - 9 inch oval speakers in it. Went to Radio Shack where I bought the speakers and 8 track player and got some knowledge from one of the employees regarding hooking up speakers in parallel and series and impedance consequences of. When combined with the front speakers It was like listening to music from inside the juke box. I still remember cruising to the sound of The Guess Who and "American Woman". LOL!

That interior was tight, like climbing into a cockpit. Definitely not a great date car like my 58 Impala was.

I hadn't heard of Gráinne Duffy until this morning. Thanks for the tip! Several of her albums on Qobuz.
Reminds me of Bywater Call. They have 2 albums on Qobuz.

We have the Bywater Call CDs, and hoping to see them next month.

The first car I drove was my father's 1970 Mercury Montego MX 2-door hardtop with 3 speed automatic and a 302 cu V8 engine. Solid steel as far as the eye could see (the hood went for days in front of you, I swear.) My younger brother wrecked it when I went off to college in 1982. The first car I personally bought was a used 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE. As Luke Skywalker famously noted, "What a piece of junk!" Gave it away two years later when I bought my first new vehicle, a 1988 Ford Probe GT with all the options. Now that was a fun car, but oh my gosh the torque steer when you put your foot into it from the turbocharger was really something with the front wheel drive!

Before my Z car I had one of these, this color but with a white vinyl top. 1974 Dodge Challenger.

I had a 240Z and gave my son a model.😉 For his first actual car I gave him a red Mazda RX7 with rotary engine. He had been doing a lot of work for me and at age 14 made $50 an hour but I made more than double that doing nothing so I wanted to give him a nice ride when he turned 16.
I have an 86 RX7 that I need to find another donor car/engine-bay for. Damn flood ruined the original motor I had ready to be built at a nice 8500-9000 rpm spec.

My son ended up totaling his but he walked away without a scratch. He has long since switched over to Infiniti.
