While I await my MJ3....

Planning to place my Gumby OG (was to be retired, now not so much) underneath it. Would it be good to put something like a Cooler Component or Aircom T7 between them?

This is a quick Sunday afternoon build in white walnut with a black walnut back I have yet to attach. I wanted something to slide into my audio rack so I had a place for various tubes as well as CDs. Sorta based on an @bcowen cardboard idea but I am not paying him royalties.😁4B22EA8D-244C-4847-AB51-871218DAA089.jpeg

Likewise from the Kara spec sheet:

"Power Supply: One 48VA transformer with dual series regulated +/-32V rails with Quietude™ topology;"

Quiteude? Like a Whisperail? :)

It feels like @Jason Stoddard is just messing with us to see if we're paying attention... 😄😄

On the topic of Saga and possibly weird decisions, I have a thought: balanced output, but no balanced input. So that it can run Schiit monoblocks and long interconnects. On the input side, the need for balanced is much less. Makes sense to me, but might confuse other people.

I also agree that three inputs is easily enough. If I run out of inputs, it's on the DAC these days, not on the pre.

I've been feeling the same way. I don't think there's much need for balanced in a home rig*, unless you're in a very noisy electrical environment. The electrical advantages balanced provides are not really necessary when you've only got 1⁄2 dozen pieces of gear, compared to a recording studio where we might have 50 or 60 pc of gear.

On the other hand it does make sense electrical in the case of running Schiit power amps as mono blocks. So in my case I don't want to pay extra for balanced inputs, but I would like to have balanced outputs. Saga to dual Gjallahorns, for instance.

I could see giving up one input and one SE output in order to add a set of balanced out. Of course, that would mean Nexus and other internal changes that might not fit in a Saga sized case.

*Many people disagree with me, obviously, but even @Jason Stoddard has said he runs single ended. As always YMMV bigly.

Probably depends on your overall ventilation. I finally got a chance last night for an extended session with the MJ3 (three hours), and it ran significantly cooler than my Freya+. Both have their own shelves on my rack.

For those of you still complaining about power switch toggles on the back of gear, there are plenty of options available for remote-controlled power strips. I use one made by Niles. The truth is out there...

Well, @bcowen won't admit it, but that system wouldn't turn on for him either...! 🤪
why my Schiit’s on a Kasa Smart power sreip. actions to turn it on for 2-channel or headphone use. Prettiness (or pettiness) not required. Just tell she-who-must-not-be-named to do it, et voila! FM, if I do say so myself…

Edit: Ableza got there firstest. Now I need to look at Niles.

Or just grab this smart power bar on Amazon for US$43. 6 individual app-controlled outlets and USB power for your raspberry pi. One and done.

(Unfortunately ridiculously expensive on Amazon Canada 😕😕)
