Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Fellow owners of older Gungnirs, didn't they used to come with a shiny source button? My 2013 vintage model just came back from Unison upgrading, and I'd sware the button is now matte. Have I finally lost what's left of my mind?
Nope, they were indeed shiny up until very recently.

Two albums that weirdly work exceptionally well for me through Gumby and Folkvangr:

Gunship - Gunship (Instrumental)
…and…
Gunship - Dark All Day (Instrumental)

If you want to try just one song, give Woken Furies on Dark All Day a shot. Clear, spacious, deep, wide … all the things.

Also, John Carpenter's Lost Themes I, II, and III, and the Mr. Robot soundtracks.

It's almost as if Folkvangr was specifically made to play synthwave.
I just ordered the gunship CDs.

Thanks Jason!

I ran around to a few local retailers and realized pretty quickly that 8GB cards are, to use the vernacular of the cool kids, unobtanium. Not much available at retail locations smaller than 128GB. (Amazon has 8GB cards in stock, but even with Prime, they're a week away.) (yeah, first world problems)

An 8GB card was located in one of my other devices and after reformatting to the specified params, it worked!

As an aside: after looking inside while I was retrieving a mis-aimed SD card, I noticed that the SD card connector won't allow the card to be inserted all the way in. There will still be a bit of the card poking out the back. Glad I didn't force it.

Bottom line: 2GB cards are too small, 32GB cards are too big. 8GB is just right.

Yeah mine happened to be 8GB so this seems to be the sweet spot.

Reading through the last five pages makes me happy I have Gungnirs and no SD card slots.

I recently picked up a pair of Blue Jeans 4S11 speaker cables. While they are impressive looking and I really like the locking bananas they still ended up sounding dull compared to my Kimber 4VS.
They do make for a nice back up set in case of emergencies.

Never heard of this group. Spent the last couple of hours listening to them. Thanks for the recommendation. I really like their sound. Of course EDM and 80’s are my thing. 😁

Same for me. Thanks for the recommendation.

I am regularly amazed at how much music is out there that I never managed to hear when it was new. The modern era where you can explore with Qobuz and the like is just amazing for opening up new (to me) stuff.

Like others have said, if you like them, you'd like "The Midnight", "Wolfclub", "Timecop 1983", "Dryve" and others on NewRetroWave.

Hey all, long time Schiit-thread lurker. Just post this thread over in the intro/recs forum, but curious what fellow Schiit-heads think. TL;DR is I have a BF2/Jot2 combo and Hifiman he-560 (as well as Sennheiser HD600's), wondering if there are any upgrade headphones in the $800-$1200 range that are a worthwhile step up from what I've got and work well with my Schitt stack vs sticking with what I've got.

While headphone preference is highly subjective, I believe that Grados pair really well with Schiit. Personally, I have the RS1X ($750) and I think it’s an amazing complement to my Lyr3/BF2 stack. You can also add a Lokius in there and still be within your budget.

I absolutely love the Arya v2 with a BF2 and Asgard 3. Throw a Loki of your choice in there if you like a bass shelf.

I have some lower end Grado's (SR125) that I've had for a long time. Non-replaceable cable so can one use them single-ended. Fun to switch to now and then, but probably don't want to get higher end Grado's right now.

I have cryoed my GE tubes and my cables. Do I need to cryo my SD card? What about my bits? Do I have to cryo each bit?

On a serious note - if you turn off NOS and do not add any filter, it sounds like you are listening to the unfiltered output of the digital conversion to analog. But if the sample rate is huge then the high frequency garbage that is not being filtered is assumed to be so high even bats cannot hear it? (I'm a mechanical engineer, I do not need a PhD thesis on this)
Don’t know about your SD card, but I’ve found cryo treating my bits can help me reach much higher notes than otherwise.
