Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

For Bifrost 2 firmware upgrades:

1. Make sure the formatting is correct. Seriously. Wipe the drive and reformat to FAT32, 32kB cluster. Smaller drives work better. We'll be shipping 8GB for the official upgrade.
2. Make sure it's inserted all the way, and the correct way, before you turn on power.
3. Once it's finished its light dance, remove the card so you don't have to see it again.

It's extremely unlikely that Bifrost 2 has a bad SDCard slot, since it is used at the factory for all programming. All Bifrost 2s have been programmed with an SDCard before shipping. There's no other way to program them.

Maybe his cat upchucked in the SD slot after eating some BBQ from Texas or NC, depending on one's bias. Or maybe it was from listening to music played through GE tubes or un-cryoed cables. Or all of the above.

@Jason Stoddard out of curiosity, is there a performance/sound difference between a Lyr 3 w/ LISST and the Lyr+ in SS mode? I am digging the new Lyr+ design like crazy, but if there is little-to-no performance difference there, then I'll be happy to stay with my Lyr 3 and just get a LISST tube when feeling a SS vibe. Thanks!

Two albums that weirdly work exceptionally well for me through Gumby and Folkvangr:

Gunship - Gunship (Instrumental)
…and…
Gunship - Dark All Day (Instrumental)

If you want to try just one song, give Woken Furies on Dark All Day a shot. Clear, spacious, deep, wide … all the things.

Also, John Carpenter's Lost Themes I, II, and III, and the Mr. Robot soundtracks.

It's almost as if Folkvangr was specifically made to play synthwave.

don't seem to be having luck.. perhaps it flashed?! Holding the input selector starts cycling through the inputs, never see a pulsing, guessing it isn't flashing.
Got it working, was trying with an old 1GB card. This morning tried with a 128GB card, which defaults it's format to FAT32 and 32Kb, worked first time. Phew. So bigger drive as Jason said, 8GB or larger.

There is a performance and sound difference, for several reasons:

1. Revised Continuity output stage with new-generation power transistors and optimized, more constant bias.
2. Relay attenuator instead of potentiometer.
3. Thanks to microprocessor management, we can eliminate the feedback capacitor. The old Lyr 3 required this, otherwise gain switching would be a big problem. The Lyr+ monitors operational parameters and only connects when everything is OK.

That said, Lyr 3 is no slouch! We'll have LISST available for purchase individually soon. Give us a couple of weeks to ramp up production.

LOL, I actually quite enjoy a lot of synthwave. It brings back that 80s nostalgia. Maybe that has something to do with it? Or not?

I’m curious to eventually see this comparison as well.
We'll probably do this (compare Bifrost 2/64 and Yggdrasil LIM) at a future Schiitrmeet.

Works for me!
I guess I should have ordered mine in black after all, and adorn it with neon pink and blue lightning bolt decals.

So you're saying you just can't get enough?
