Out of curiosity—if immortality could indeed be achieved (putting aside the end of the sun’s life cycle for the sake of argument), would you *actually* want it?
Maybe if I could be Lestat.

Yup. Have always wanted to live forever. If I was a mega rich tech bro, it's what I would spend my billions on.

Just opened an email from Dan Clark Audio announcing his new cans. They look exquisite and would imagine they sound the same.

The case equally luxurious to match.

Thought I would post my Stealth Case. Excellent for hiding headphones in plain sight:

A available only in glittering burgundy-purple with gold lettering!

And, of course, consume the original contents in a safe and relaxed manner.

Don't scratch the Lokius case...

According to astronomers' current theories and models, our Sun will start turning into a red giant in 5 billion years or so. When that happens it will consume Mercury, Venus, perhaps Earth, and turn Mars into a torched cinder.

The Sun doesn't have enough mass to explode in a nova or supernova.

Elon and Jeff have some time to get their launch vehicles working well before a mass exodus is needed.

Don't worry about that. We'll go extinct way before any of that Schiit
happens.

I am used to silver and black, generally anodized. But the thought of powder coating does open lots of possibilities. Small runs of weird colors if enough people sign up and put up some earnest money? Even Hello Kitty pink (just not UNC blue, please).
I heard that. :smiling_imp:

Just a tip for any newcomers to the thread, but once you have your Schiit DAC plugged into your Windows 10 PC, don't forget to go Control Panel, select Hardware and Sound, and then under Sound, select Manage audio devices. On the Playback tab, select your Schiit DAC, click on Properties, then on the Advanced tab, and in the Default format, click on the drop down and select 32 bit, 19200 Hz (Studio Quality). This provides a noticeable improvement from the default setting.

It would be interesting to see where Schiit could go with a more Elon Musk style approach to vertical integration.

Can't get any more tubes? Let's build tubes.
Can't get US-made resistors? Let's build resistors.
Can't get delta sigma chips you like? Let's build chips.
Can't get decent metal? Let's build metal.
And this is exactly how many companies fail -- they lose focus on what made them successful to begin with.

If you're going to mention it you should actually post it:

The science fiction book series The Culture by Ian M. Banks explored this issue. Science had reached the point where human beings were effectively immortal, and yet suicide was legal and recognized as a valid choice for people who didn't want to live indefinitely.

Paradoxical. In this scenario suicide is acceptable if life itself never ends; but the moment an end is inevitable, it is not acceptable to hasten it.

Sometimes thought patterns can be marvelously tortuous.

The amount of arguing I have seen over what color to paint a piece of equipment has been astounding. Looking back I should have been surprised how little arguing there was over what color the building should be - for reference the building took more than 3 weeks and included the local C-suite.
