Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Since I'm retired now, $2,500 is no longer an impulse buy. The LCD-R can only be used with the Schiit amp, else the warranty is voided.
So - how do they sound, Amos? @Currawong

Edit - oh nvm ... I saw your review on YouTube. Well done, mate.

just out.

Not for me, but congrats to Schiit. Custom partnering's like this are good for the industry.

Hmm, @Jason Stoddard I know you said "no electrostatic 580V headphone amps" but maybe your next partnership could be with Dan Clark to create a custom Voce amp... Jotunheim-V. :)

If anything I see this more as a time-saver, no need to think about synergy and just enjoying music with that set as is, which is the whole point of audiophilia, right? ;)

I'm not into headphones (and yet here I am on Head-Fi...) but @Currawong's reviews are always very well done.

Yes until one of them develops a flaw and has to go in for servicing, turning the partner into a paper weight by default in the interim, while it waits for the return trip.
To be fair, that might not happen too often, but what if...?

I am most probably getting a subwoofer to complement my LSR 305 speakers by end of next week

How well do Schiit products work with setups containing subwoofers?
My JBL setup is connected to the Yggy A2/U. To my ears and taste, they sound really good!
The LSR310S is a powered subwoofer with a built-in crossover, so any DAC should work well with it.

Hey! The setup should be pretty straightforward. I'm a big fan of subwoofers, including for music.

If you're using one of the Schiit dedicated stereo preamps (Saga or Freya), they both have dual outputs. I have my Saga with one of it's RCA outputs going to Vidar and the other output going to my subwoofers.

Most subwoofers these days have RCA inputs, their own built in low-pass filters, and their own volume controls. Once you get your subwoofer dials set to your liking, your preamp will control your subwoofer volume in tandem with your speakers.

The setup could be slightly different than what I described depending on which Schiit product you're using or what features your subwoofer has. If you have questions about your specific gear I'm sure more guidance will be offered.

Music is a waste of time. If you have the money to buy records, playing them is a fun way to listen to music.
If you have a killer digital playback system, Playing vinyl is an incredible waste of time! Not the slightest bit of "fun"!
