Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My Fav Topic. I have posted this sometime ago but will try my luck once again.

REQUEST for AC Re-generator from Schiit. Power rating 1kW or 2kW.

110V @60Hz / 230V 50Hz -> DC (Storage/Huge Cap etc) -> 110V @60Hz / 230V 50Hz. Flexibility of user switchable.
I keep buying products in USA (Save on cost and time) and I would like like this AC regenerator to be able to take in 230V @50Hz -> 110V @60Hz so that I can use products purchased in USA.

I also would like to buy used equipment from US portals which are 110V @60hz, this flexible AC Re-generator will come in huge handy.

Thanks in advance!

... And yes i forgot to ask (again), next generation Vidar dedicated MONO only with minimum 250W or more please. I backed out of 2x Vidar for the scare of use them in Bridged mono (my own schiit theory of not to operate in bridged mono whatever ... )

Your "theory" is incorrect.

Your "theory" is incorrect.
... and demonstrates a misunderstanding about how amplifiers work.

My advise to home users: if a manufacturer has designed something to be used in a certain way, it is OK and proper for you to use it that way.

Hey Jason,

How about a retail version of Dave's power supply...

I like modern art but this makes me want to poke out my eyeballs. There is functional(like Schiit with screws)and there is just plain hideous.
Being an engineer is not a valid excuse for not caring about how the world around you looks and feels. It`s sad that a lot of engineers see ~not caring about looks~as some badge of honour.
Design should always be part of engineering. Not caring is ugly.

Jason,
I live in the cold state of Illinois. I need a Schiit 30W pure class A amp to help heat the house. Something similar to this beauty http://www.thevintageknob.org/pioneer-M-22.html.

The Pioneer M-22 is the original power amplifier from the Series 20 : old style Class A with no circuit trickery or audiophile touches - except where it really counts : power transformers, capacitors, resistors, chassis and ground paths.
The M-22 is a sound bolid.

"Open-guts" style with massive diecast heatsinks and chassis, four 33,000µF caps, full dual-mono layout.
If you don't mind having loudspeaker cables running in front of your rig... not very tidy.

But if you have an M-22 just for its sound qualities... all's fine : good-looking box that acts as room-heater on the side and ultimately makes wonderful music.

Thank you.

I'll make an enclosure for it that doesn't hurt the eyes.

Thanks for sharing this link. I would quickly pick them up for my home country use. Maybe pick couple of them for now. Best part is i also found exact plug type for use in India.

My concern is the freq input. 230V @ 50Hz and output will still be 110V 50Hz. Will this affect lets say example, Freya with input 110V, @60Hz. Is there any heat generation in either the Transformer (converter) or the one inside Freya? Or I m told (Happy to be wrong :) ) that there will be some hum noise in the system which could affect the SQ and also transformer inside the Freya (or any other equipment ).

Thanks,
/Jnan

The lower frequency lowers the music to Verdi pitch

All the transformers in all our products are rated for 50/60Hz, so no worries.
