If how a speaker looked were critical to me, I would never buy the Double Impact speakers. They aren't ugly....but they certainly are not works of art. The only thing I really care about in a speaker is how it sounds. Well, it does have to physically fit into the room....
I think they look best in blue. Especially the Ulfberht.

@winders

Do the D-Impacts come with grills? I'm with you...I could care less about the general appearance, but they wouldn't pass my wife-approved test.

Ha, actually showed the wife the DI's color options and we both agreed that many of them look like they're for a mid-life crisis sports car. Then she said I should get black.

What size is your listening room?

That's yet to be determined. I've got a few options, but at the top of the list is a fairly spacious basement area. I'm not living there now, so guessing 9x16x20. Must admit, I could probably get away with some smaller floorstanding speakers, but I'm drooling over two Vidars driving something like the DI's.

I suggest getting the regular Impacts for $1800 and buying a Gungnir Multibit. The regular Impact is still a very large speaker, with a 10" woofer, 6" midrange, and three 1" tweeters. Something to think about.

Salk got very busy this spring. I ordered a pair of Song 3's late March and am still waiting. They are running over three and a half months .

Good for them! It's a good problem to have when demand increases. Not so good for consumers, of course...

For those who might be interested in KEF LS50s, they are on the Amazon Prime Day deal list... Not sure how much you can save though...

Normal build times are 70 to 100 days but they have become very popular it appears. Jim Salk has been great to deal with and I figure its worth the wait.
