I know Jason already said no, but if it NEC-based remote protocol then there is a super small chance the old apple remote might work...I would guess that it's Philips as that is almost all the remotes these days..
Only to power switches on the front.... The rest is negotiable....... sort of, ... perhaps.... maybe.......... maybe not....... only if........ but then.......... DSD......
What the Schiit customers need is a great reasonably priced CD transport. I have your TOTL DAC and amp and it is fabulous for its intended purpose, which is listening to CDs. I just happened to have an old OPPO 83 lying around to use for a transport, but I get excited when I see an old used Mark Levinson CD transport for sale. Please make a CD transport for your faithful fans.
Sometimes you have power amps instead of integrated amps (specially if you need huge power). Other times your DAC is not capable of running long interconnects. Maybe you want a taste of tubes. Also some of us have powered monitors and need just a volume control.

No. I think the Loki taught Schiit that there actually has to be more than a few people that will buy, if a product is to be successful. 10 years ago there may have been a viable market for this. Not now.
Having worked for an audio company that made stuff that spins discs, I can tell you that even good ones can have very unpredictable reliability. Spindle motors are the biggie. The same batch of motors can have samples that last 60 days or 20 years.
For a loudspeaker based system, people with more that one source that do not only use their computer as a source, will need to connect their multiple sources and control the volume and source selection with the pre-amp (aka control amp), The amplifier is usually just a single source input with no way to control the volume.
A proper preamp in a 2-channel system turns music into magic. Even in the small room at RMAF, I could hear the wisps of magic that Freya was making. In combo with Yggy, and those authoritative amps, there is some good listening that will be happening soon.
Pre amplifiers also vary the gain of the signal going to the amplifier. A passive pre amp will only vary the output of the source with a volume control . Most pre amps are active, meaning they will actively boost the gain of the source component. In so doing, the active circuitry will, to some degree, color the sound. The less they color the sound the better. The switching features, inputs and outputs, types of controls, type of circuitry, etc. will vary from model to model.
