Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

How cool! I've never had the opportunity to try any of the Swiss Ericsson tubes, but many of them are held in extremely high regard....with prices to match. I've seen their 33S30B (6SN7 equivalent) listed for over $2k per tube when they surface on Ebay (which isn't very often any more).
Got an Orchid Dac a few years back, this was an upgrade tube for $100.
Forgot a few 2c51's in the mix back then...
a Raytheon and a Tungsol..

Found a hidden 396a in the bottom of the box!! They keep multiplying!
The Tungsol is the tube on the left.
They both have 2C51 and 5670 lettering on them.

Feeding Vali 2+ with this dac ATM...

The only ticket I ever got on my sportbike was generously bequeathed to me by a motorcycle cop.

Like, where's the solidarity, brother? 😒

OK then. I'm officially jealous. Especially on the 8-track. 🤣

I got my first speeding ticket at age 17 in a well used TR6 I was test driving. Typical British Leyland of the day where none of the gauges worked, including the speedometer. 83mph in a 35mph zone. Yeah, my license was suspended for 30 days by the state, and another 30 days after that by the more harsh enforcer, my Dad. 🤣
That 8 track was like a turbo boost mode!!
Crank up Creedence, Beatles or the Stones....like a 5th gear!

I got a speeding ticket in one state, passing a really sloooooow car in a 45 mph zone, only had a few hundred feet to pass safely....clocked by a trooper hidden behind a barn at 103 mph....

30 min later in the next state, I got a second speeding ticket 80 in a 55ph...

Needless to say, lost my license in state 1 for 6 months.
Dad was not happy...

Gosh those were the days!!

That is so much better than "plastered" ... oh wait, "plastered" is after a lot of drinks
... or "hammered", "smashed"....

Yup, Buttered has a nice softness about it :)
Yes, buttered is a good descriptor. Comes before hammered or smashed. For the latter, my circles of friends call that "shmammered" :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Just a quick listen to the Vali 3 that arrived this morning. With a Jan 5670W, listen to some of the Travesia recommendation posted earlier on Quobuz. Clear as a bell and an authoritative smoothness. Simply incredible. More tubes later but dang, right out of the box it’s quite impressive.
Love those 100 Volts!!

Some of your panel might have considered that to be like inviting Cousin Eddie to a 5-star restaurant. "Who is this guy that likes $5 Fotons?" 🤣

I could have snuck you in, using the F work out loud might have been verboten though.:beerchug: Seriously you would not have even seen a tube till after the testing was over, all you would have known is you gave a remarkable score to a tube that turned out to be a Melz. Seriously though, the Foton scored well ahead of far more expensive tubes, that is the beauty of only listening with no pre-judgements. Being able to judge the subjective has to do with confirming and reconfirming the same thing when it is asked many different ways. It is far more complex where music is concerned, there were repeated nuances that could show a person consistently picking one tube over another in a specific criteria. That is the simplest way I can describe part of the testing.

The first car I gave my son was a red Mazda RX7, I want to say he had two tickets the first week but those slowed down after he totaled it lol, he was not hurt fortunately.

Great to hear! Can't wait to listen to mine. I liberated Fokvangr from its cardboard prison this morning, but unfortunately Vali 2, MMB, BF2, and Loki(s) are still about 20 deep in the box pile. I blame my wife for not unpacking my audio stuff first. Might need to do an intervention... 🤣

@jonathan c is also someone I have the utmost respect for. His wit and use of language are something I picked up on very early, he is also very kind and generous. I never forget a favor and the man can be quite selfless. Then there is Sam, Ripper, Resnek, FLTWS, etc. it is a long list.😉
Thank you very much for the compliment. I am always available to help you in any way that I can.
