You'd be hard pressed to find a Bromberg album (where he is the primary artist) that I have not heard at least once. I'm a huge fan. Been a while since I've trotted this one out and certainly not since getting Aegir 2. Definitely added to the 'Spring Break' rotation.
One more for you ~~

A coworker (call him D) and I were in a conversation with another coworker (call him A) about music. D, in a former life, made $ playing jazz at weddings etc.

A said, "Why do you need stereo speakers?" D and I both said, "Because then we can tell where the instruments are and that matters to us."
A said, "What?" and we said, "We want to hear the violins on the left, where they are supposed to be, and the drums in the back,..."
A said, "How do you know that?"
From going to live orchestral concerts, where such things are part of the reality, that’s how. The why is that it helps in suspension of disbelief (it makes it sound more real). I don’t get why this is so complicated

Listening to Blues Image 'Ride Captain Ride' and recalling how at 10 years old I would go to sleep with an AM radio under my pillow waiting to hear it and other hits of the time. When your fondest memories of youth center around music, that's when you know you've been a music lover / audiophile in the making for as long as you can remember. 😍

Music has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember and will will be until I shed this mortal coil. Thanks to Schiit and you fine folks for sharing and helping me rekindle this passion.
This! I built a crystal set so I could listen to my local AM rock station in bed at night w/o Parental involvement/consent/etc. I was 9 or so; mid 60’s, Beatles in full swing

Or, use a simple recorder and stereo mic, go to the street, record some normal noise and voice, play back with headphone or speakers, compare it... just that simple to feel the real soundscape .....

I'll quit beating this dead horse but first I need to mention a couple of things. First, no system can recreate a live orchestra (although an MBL Extreme system can come close) and even then, it will be recreating a recording, meaning whatever the mics picked up and the engineer/producer/mastering mixer decided to put on the recording. And second, back to my initial point, it's subjective. You seek what you like. You hear what you like. I seek what I like. It's not about the system, it's about our interaction with it.

I do agree the mic placement plays a big role, aside mixing.

I still have my first set of headphones. Koss Pro4-AA's. Original box too.

I have two pairs of Pro4-AAs kicking around somewhere. Those Koss HPs were heavy.

My first headphone, though, was the Pioneer SE-20 (as in my avatar).

Thanks. Added to the list for later tonight or tomorrow.
Listening to this right now. Great album. Example of straight-away jazz from 2024. Thanks for the tip!

+1. Thank @earnmyturns. He's the one that recommended it initially.
