A perfect example of the internet in 2024 specifically, and head-fi in general. I cringe when I stop to think of all the misinformation I read on these forums stated as fact. Noobies beware!
Enjoy the music! :beerchug:

... 😵 you mean that "they" of the internet don't check, x2-check, x3-check?! 😳 The horror of it all ... caveat lector.

Have to agree, although Achtung Baby was kinda special...
Achtung Baby is still very special. Best album they ever pulled off.

But here's where I have to admit my admiration also for Pop and Zooropa. Just such fun albums!

Gentlemen,

How many days on your GS 2's so far?

I'm on day 21 today.
My LP's haven't gotten a lot of love lately either, but they're not going anywhere.

20 days of Yggy+ GS2 awesomeness for me.

ROFL!!! After my old eyes and not-as-steady hands spent half a day installing and tweaking out the cartridge after my last move, my love affair with LP's is starting to fade. I still love listening to them, but the labor involved is less and less appealing. Or maybe I'm just lazy. No, I *am* just lazy. 🤣
New LP reissues priced at $45 to $60 aren't helping my enthusiasm either.

Then again, I just paid $30 for Arvo Part's newest release, Tractus, on CD.

Edit, I see that Amazon has lowered the price to $25. Sure, right after I bought my copy! :sunglasses:

26 days. And yea, I'm not getting rid of my LP's either. They are just on the back burner for now.

I never had to hack the BIOS of my Hackintoshes to get them to work, but there was a lot of messing with bootloaders, kexts, and fussy components.

There were a couple of packages that wrapped all the kexts and other drivers up together and loaded them into the BIOS. You could then just (usually) do a vanilla install of MacOS. Then the point updates to a given version could be safely installed normally without having to worry about it.

Edit. Yes, I am falling behind, I'm only up to page 8951... 😱😱

Want smother Bourbon, get some Jameson's. The best Irish bourbon in Ireland.

Urgh. Not for me.

Jameson's not a bourbon, it's an Irish whisky, distinct from bourbon. It's made using a different technique than Scotch and has a different flavour profile which I have a personal distaste for. But it's not a bourbon.

Finding more dynamic range for a remaster is very hard to find. Dynamic range has to be there to begin with so count out almost all popular modern music, even on tape masters.
Redoing an album for volume is more the norm for remasters. Which is a shame because think of what might be available (if powers that be consented). Noise and muddyness removal, better focus on instruments thru slight EQ, and even a clearer mix. What if the vocals and instruments could be enjoyed more! IMO, most remasters now are to bring up the volume level to get us to buy the product again. Just like taking a 16/44.1 CD and upsampling it to 24/96 and saying it's now Hi-Rez.

Didn't dbx have a dynamic range expander?

Bought and waiting for it to ship...

(No -- I do not have an Urd (yet), but I do have a Denon unit that plays SACDs.)

Purchased and downloaded from Qobuz (96/24 -- 2023 Remaster). (Queueing this one up for tonight.)

This is the collection of all Van Hagar as opposed David Lee Roth era on the original 'The Collection' album. I'm feeling some Cabo Wabo margs may be in order! :D
