Other subs I use are adjustable by smart phone so that makes things a bit easier. Often I put this guy on when adjusting because of some of his sub-harmonics.
I believe it was about a year ago I visited @FLTWS to buy some audio gear.
So, MY willpower snapped like a dry twig and my MJ3 arrives today. And I notice that it's, ah, rather LARGE for a desktop device. Does anyone know of a rack system that would fit on a desk and take a 16x8" unit? I can find "mini" racks but they are too mini for this monster.
Also, I am assuming no one is leaving these things on 24/7? Unless you were in the arctic somewhere?
I leave mine on 24/7 in a rack with a small rackmounted fan above it (exhaust fan: so it’s pulling the hot air instead of blowing cool air into the amp and spreading the heat where it shouldn't go). It works great.
MJ3 stays the coolest thing in the rack at around 85 degrees F. I can hold my hand on the top right heat sink and it’s only slightly warm to the touch, as opposed to the 145 degrees F that I measured prior to having the fan. This is with the fan at the lowest speed, running very quietly.
Edit: for clarification, my rack is completely open in the back, and there is nothing solid under the MJ3, it’s just a blank vented panel below it covering the ugly 2u open gap.

I haven't seen a rack designed around the MJ3 chassis size, but regardless of where you end up putting it be conscious of the space/air-flow above AND below it. The heat sinks get quite hot, which is expected, but the bottom of the MJ3 also gets real hot on the right side (same side as the heat sinks).
Not sure if you follow the Mjolnir 3 Impressions thread, but there is lots of good info over there, along with a few tales of woe that we are all anxiously keeping an eye on.
As to leaving it on 24/7 ... no ... too much heat for my personal comfort level if left unattended.
I basically treat the MJ3 like a tube amp - give it plenty of space to breathe, and it's only turned on when I'm actively listening to it.

"Schiit-Kickin-Rekker"!
may be a pretty cool name for the upcoming mystery release. My money is on a 5 channel multi-rekkr Home Theater Amp. I think Jason should call it:
I still cross my balanced cables at a 90 degree angle to power cables... rejection modes notwithstanding. Good cable management is a sign of OCD, and I wear that badge proudly...

I had not seen that thread and thank you for linking it! I hope the tales of woe do not affect me, because other than that, the listening impressions are beyond favorable. If you are on the fence, DO NOT look at that thread!
