Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I'm wondering if after Syn release, Jason is already working in a multichannel amp as a companion for it. It sounds logical if you want Syn to succeed, since having a single big box is more convenient (I guess most people see it that way) than having 5 little ones scattered in a rack.

Emotiva sells a family of amps in two through seven channel versions. Open chassis pictures reveal that the 2 through 5 channel versions use the same power transformer, the 6 and 7 channel versions get a larger transformer. I never bought one, I’m a two channel type. But this seems a reasonable way to economically build a multichannel amp. Syn is fairly tied to “5.” If a Rekr5 would fit in an existing Schiit box it would be pretty cool and possibly not expensive to design/produce.

Since Head-Fi is still weird this morning I'm just going to post thoughts on a few topics I saw in my reading:

1- Jim Fosgate: When I was in audio retail back in '87 Jim came to our store and tweaked our dedicated surround sound demo room. OMG! The man knew his gear and what we heard made us true believers. This was before all the digital processing and too many ass-sounding DAC's overloading the audio chain.

2- URD: Jason clearly stated that Urd will arrive in June, or maybe late May for my birthday. I am just as impatient for it as the rest of the inmates here, I'm posting this so people who actually read this thread will have this info. And now I am noticing that the emoji's are not back online, so: *insert cynical cat face emoji here*

3- YGGY: TV never sounded better, football and hockey are revelatory audio experiences with a proper DAC.

4- SYN: When I have the right space for a multichannel system it will fulcrum around SYN.

Maybe you can relate to this - think IBM Selectric typewriter. Robust, positive and tactile feedback.
.
No longer worth it.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think it's time for Head-Fi to start considering a new Hosting service? It's been super laggy over 12 hours now and intermittently so for several days.

I'd love to hear how a Syn integrates into the classic Klipsch-horn / center-horn (heresy) 3-speaker configuration. I'd imagine exceptionally well. The Heresy was actually initially intended to be a center speaker. Thus 'heresy' in two channel listening. I wonder if Syn was a call-back of sorts to a similar naming convention (Heresy History)

I have a pile of Schiit a mile high and I shill them constantly to friends, but I'm struggling to see why I would want to buy a Syn vs a $399 Denon AVR that does Pro Logic II and plenty of other virual surround modes including all the digital multichannel modes, provides amps for 5 channels for (generally) cheaper passive speakers and comes with Audyssey room correction. I just did the room correction on my X4700H and it was stupidly easy compared to my older 2808ci. Am I missing something here?

While we're on the subject of vinyl and analog ..... :relaxed: So, I'm cleaning out stuff as I pack to start my move next week and as I'm opening boxes I brought with me in 2004 to my present abode, what do I find? A Denon DL 103D and Shure Ultra 500 in the their original boxes I never opened and forgot about because I sold all my vinyl and TT, and all my audio rig for that matter, before moving here. The Shure came in a nice walnut box., The things you discover as a part of moving are surprising. LOL.

Heyyyyy, also speaking of vinyl, I think I finally found the trick to getting the bass I've been craving from the DL-103 🤪
