The Schiit Friday Sale seems to be updating quantities ... down to 1 Tyr in Silver 115v.

The dangers of looking at the B-Stock & Closeout page once too often...I ordered a Freya N. To go with the Tyrs I already ordered. Makes sense, right?
So now I turn to my fellow Head-Fiers for tube recommendations. Hopefully, not too expensive. What say you, Paladin79? Got any advice? Or any vintage goodies you might consider parting with?

I would start with the cheapest compatible 6n1p's and 6n23p's you can find on ebay.

Make certain they work in your amplifier, I am a fanboy not an engineer.

These tubes go in large lots for low prices and arrive in under 4 weeks, or so.

These look new, from the same year/wholesale box, sold as lots of 8-10 tubes for prices from $2 - 10 tube! It's literally TUBE HEAVEN.

Personally I would do Magni + instead...

Heretic will be flat, but Magni + will put some meat on the bones while being clean too

I already got the Magni+! Love it, I'm just curious about the other one now too

I read a review that makes me want to try the Heretic, seems like a very capable amp too with really great measurements - I'm trying to ease my kiddo into the hobby, maybe I should get one and let him use the one I'm not using at a given time as a loaner

sale price probably is close to shipping differential between a single shipment and splitting into two shipments.

another consideration is the finish. the black powder coat should be essentially the same between Loki+ and MM2 when it releases in Dec 2022/ Q1 2023.
silver however-- will MM2 ship with anodized aluminum top or silver powder coat finish over steel? will a Loki+ be available to match it?

From the sneak peek pictures Jason posted I think MM2 has the "old style" anodized aluminum finish.

Truth... but Murphy's law being what it is, i ordered a loki+ and Mani so the shipping didn't hurt as much. I think I might send the Modi MB2 to the border if/when it hits

Yeah basically for us Canadians, the more we order in 1 go makes the shipping more worth it LOL.

Moral of the story: Buy A LOT of Schiit in one go.

Just out of curiosity, could you post Amazon links / SKUs? I have a friend who wants to do this and is concerned about ordering the wrong items, and I've never done it, so though it seems quite simple I just want to avoid steering him wrong and having him get frustrated. Thanks.

I can find the MHDT Labs Orchid, and the Soekris 2541 (I own one), but no DAC with both "orchid" and "2541" on the name... I'm really enjoying Piety with Soekris 2541.

Easy to confuse for sure!

Have the iFi iDSD as well with the Burr Brown chips.
Had both the OG Bifrost and Bifrost 2.

Seemed to gravitate to the Non Oversampling sound.
But wanted a dac that could do DSD and with some filters to try out for my ears.
Always seem to go back to NOS.

Thinking of the new YGGY + now and waiting for the possibility of the Modi MB with NOS mode as well!

What I normally do is decide on a brand and type and they watch for great deals. I spent as much as six months watching for specific Melz 1578's and they finally showed up.

Can you remind me which pair have a greater impact on the sound? I had thought it was the left side (which I believe are the input pair), more so than the right side (power pair). Is that roughly right / is there a rule of thumb for the different impacts?

From my experience with the THX789, it is only really good balanced and I picked it up for $225 - the Asgard 3 kills it single ended.
