Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I finally set mine up two days ago. For near flield listening, they image like nothing else. For small ensemble classical and jazz, they are excellent. They do get a bit congested with rock but if you pick your music to fit their strengths, they are extremely satisfying. Vocal Jazz is shockingly good.
I have used very similar products both at home and for folks I have helped setting up modest systems. This type of setup is good for turntables with an Andover Audio Spinbase.

For my frAudiophile-Friends (and I still have a few) I simply add two or three hundred pounds of dumbells to the base and tell them it is a power full EG (Earf Grownd) 'n' sheit.

Mostly they just don't have enough stock to justify sending some to Europe, and having a little bit constantly selling out would be a problem, and lead to increased shortages in the US. Schiit sells loads of gear, more than you think, and the demand in Europe would quickly overwhelm what supply could be split off without doubling (?guess based on nothing besides guessing) wait times in the US.

If you look how Schiit does business, and their emphasis on local manufacture, I think especially with the parts shortages, right now, personally I think the entire planet is better off going back to more localized materials sourcing and manufacturing.

I feel like shipping a bunch of audio gear across an ocean to a place that has their gear seems to undermine the point of all that.

At least when there is serious shortage everywhere.

So I think their decision makes sense. Of course, I'm biased.

oh schiit politics. damn, banned again.

I know. I am just pointing out that it is a decision and has consequences. And it is not something that just happened, consciously this has been chosen.

Thank you. Just got the Lipo-Flavenoid. I'm going to try it and hope it works.
I don't know much about tinnitus, but thought I'd do a quick look since I have a relative with it.
Caveats that much of supplement data is lacking. This is a small study from an unknown journal (to me), but interesting...
Conclusions sound markety, but no COI listed.

Abstract

Background:

Otolaryngologists are regularly presented with patients experiencing tinnitus who are seeking treatment to help with resuming active and productive lives. Lemon bioflavonoid complexes are known to be safe nutritional supplements; however, data on patient satisfaction are limited.

Objectives:
The primary objectives were to better understand symptom severity reduction, symptom improvement, and patient satisfaction when lemon bioflavonoid complexes are taken at the recommended dose and duration of treatment.

Methods:
The SILENT experience study was conducted from January 2017 to January 2018, with 504 otolaryngologists from six states, identified from a purchased list. Each physician provided a free, 500-caplet sample of Lipo-Flavonoid®, a lemon bioflavonoid complex, to three patients who experienced tinnitus and completed a survey detailing patient demographics and symptoms. In total, 719 patients received the sample; 51 patients followed through and completed a baseline symptom assessment and five surveys over 10 weeks. IRB approval was deemed unnecessary and the study was overseen by a practicing otolaryngologist. Statistical analysis was conducted on the reduction of symptom severity and symptom improvement over 10-weeks.

Results:
Bothersomeness of ringing or other noises in the ear(s) was reduced by 32% and patients reported a 55% improvement of all symptoms, which correlated with product satisfaction. Patient satisfaction scores were strong: 33% extremely satisfied, 49% somewhat satisfied, and 18% not satisfied. Compliance was high, with 86% of participants taking the product as directed for 60 days. The top reasons for physician recommendations (selected by >30%) were positive clinical experience (71%), good safety profile (66%), supported by data for over 50 years (37%), and efficacy (35%).

Implications for Practice:
These data support the use of this lemon bioflavonoid complex for symptoms of tinnitus, for 60 days (and beyond for those who derive benefit) to provide the best chance of relief. For clinicians looking for a safe and beneficial intervention for patients, lemon bioflavonoid complexes offer a good first-line option.

I tried Lipo- Flavinoid several years ago. In my case, after a few days of taking it my ears felt like they were clogged with wax and I started to experience some minor balance issues.

Yes, good eye! Seems Per Madsen retired a while back but someone else has continued on with them. I like that they are modular and can be arranged however wanted, and additional units can be added at any time.

I have a lot of Per Madsen stuff, and when he retired, I drove up to his shop and bought a bunch more. I had only intended to buy a few more so I took my Caterham to his shop. The prices were very good at the end so, I ended up putting all I could in the passenger seat and tying more to the roll bar. I tied so many on to my car that I looked like the Caterham version of the Beverly Hillbillies. He thought I was funny and took a picture of my load.
He sold modular oak rack sections that were stackable, and I use them for my equipment and another bunch in the garage holding all of the CDs and the DVDs.

You know what I haven't done in a while, guys? Poking a wasps nest just to see what happens.

My honest and completely serious position:
In a headphone rig of ANY grade and size, the two by far most crucially important components are the DAC and the headphones.
A good hardware EQ comes in at a distant second.
A well-performing, whisper-quiet headphone amp comes third.
Don't skimp on interconnects, but they come in last.
Forget about "clean" power, that's only really worth talking about in larger two channel setups.

Discuss, while I'll be watching from a safe distance. 🤣
I quite agree with this (sorry, no hornets here).

In my experience, upgrading and sidegrading, while the headphone definitely has the potential for most impact, the DAC can also have a very large impact indeed. The steps from Modi to Bifrost2 to Gungnir all had significant improvements to my ears.

All DACs sound the same as some like to say? My a$$! They really do not (IMHO).

For such as I, it is good that all DACs (and every thing else audio related!) do not LOOK the same! All though some SMSL stuff kinda sorta looks like other SMSL stuff. And a great deal of Chi-Fi stuff looks oddly cloned...:beerchug:

That means it works in the right spot, but in the wrong way.

A dash of meter porn for Monday morn:
090522mcd12000.jpg

This little 32.5 pound baby has gone right to the top of my Christmas wish list. It's a DAC, it has tubes, it has meters, it plays SACDs. (I realize the esteemed Mr. Moffat micturates from a great elevation on SACDs, but I respectfully disagree. Anyway, that means it doesn't compete with Schiit gear, so I don't feel bad about posting it. I'm still intending to order an Urd.) One issue - it costs $12,000. Yep, twelve. Thousand. Dollars.
