Well, it was a great game. Sorry your team didn't win.
And it's spelled 'Bight Me' in NC.

One is mythical, the other is fantastical. Is unbiased objectivity different than plain objectivity? Asking for a friend.
I actually have one experience with this. A long time ago I had an amp I bought new. It was a mid-fi 160W stereo amp. It died, but was still under warranty, so I sent it in. The company decided they couldn't, or didn't want to, fix it and what I got in return was my amp's 200W bigger brother. It wasn't louder so much as more credible in the dynamic passages. The extra head room power above what my average listening level required was useful.Where Tyr's wattage comes into play is that you can turn your volume knob up higher and get more volume without losing definition in what you hear. More wattage means that your amp will be able to move more air without running out of steam. So, pretty much all amps will get loud, but only some of them will still sound good. (Not clip or distort, etc.)
(I'm obviously grossly oversimplifying here, ignoring things like gain, etc. – but I think my point remains valid.)
And if money grew on trees I would order Tyrs tomorrow. But given that my amp doesn't strain in the least to drive my speakers louder than I could ever listen to them I have damn little incentive to buy more watts. I certainly understand quality over quantity or I wouldn't own Schiit to begin with. And if Schiit migrates the Choke principle down to something like the Aegir I would probably buy it for the increase in quality. But the Tyrs are just too far down the cost road for me to consider - although I would love to hear them. I'm not sure why anyone would buy $3,400 amps to drive $1,500 speakers. Maybe if I had $10,000 speakers it would be worth it, but not for a pair of Omen DWs.It's not only about volume. It's about sound.
I have Klipsch RF-7 IIIs and listen mostly at 10-11 o'clock with my Aegirs. 12 o'clock is already VERY loud, I never go past 1 o'clock, especially with highly dynamically compressed music it will blow your brains out (not mentioning ear fatigue with low DR which starts earlier). And this is already with a few dB attenuation because of convolution filters.
I ordered the Tyrs because I want better amps, not louder amps. Just because one has speakers with high sensitivity (although Klipsch cheats with their numbers), it does not make Tyr obsolete.
You guys should post some short videos at least, if not a camera corner where people can wave and announce the proceedings.SchiitrMeet April 2022:

This won't be livestreamed--instead, we'll have a summary later, as with other in-person meets.
I hope to see you there!
All the best,

Wait, you bore a child?Different line. I was referring to the thin line between unbiased objectivity and all- out 'Jason, I want to have your babies!' fanatascism.
I will be moving from 35 watts per channel to 100 watts per channel in a 16x25 room. 15 watts per channel works for me with efficient speakers. Of course I am talking tube amps.My thoughts exactly. I'm in a 11x12 room with Rag v1 and Tekton Lore Reference. I'd love to see Tyr's choke technology trickle down to a 35 or 40w stereo amp.
My big rig room is 16x19 and 21 tube watts will rock the house quite nicely. 98 dB sensitivity speakers help a wee bit.I will be moving from 35 watts per channel to 100 watts per channel in a 16x25 room. 15 watts per channel works for me with efficient speakers. Of course I am talking tube amps.
I've not crossed that line. At least not yet. I can't say where I'll be after Urd is released, however.Wait, you bore a child?
Yeah, he just doesn't post his picture very often.Wait, you bore a child?
