In all fairness, the OG Mani had those switches on the bottom as well.

ROFL! Now that was pretty funny,@Jason Stoddard now you're just f-ing with us, as if power switches on the back wasn't enough:

What we really need is a balanced Vali 2+, to go with the Modius (in a Jotunheim/Lyr chassis). I'm not very hopeful that we'll see one, though, given that the Lyr's FAQ states that it wouldn't fit.An asgard and a modius in one box would be nice.
399$?
Depends on what you mean by decent. $200 is about the minimum for a Pro-Ject, Fluance, or U-Turn. Of course if you can justify $150 for a phono preamp, you're probably looking for more decent than those. There are lots of options above that price point, most of them are at least decent. So I returned to stereo during covid, I told myself, “You don’t need vinyl!” But the new Mani is making me think again! I can justify $150 for a preamp but how much for a decent turntable and cartridge? I have about 100 LPs from my wasted youth.

I am hoping you all argue a bit and help me decide. I bought a very high quality turntable in 1977, it cost $430, my room mate bought a VW for $500 at about the same time. That turntable still works, but I gave it to my hipster daughter ten years ago. I cannot take it back. I do not want a VW-priced turntable. But, again, I will learn if smart people debate. And vintage.
I picked up a Project Debut Carbon Evo last year after a 30 year hiatus from vinyl. The Evo was $500 when I bought it (they are $600 now), but incomplete without a phono stage. I picked up a Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 for $200. So all in $700 for a nice turntable setup that I’m extremely happy with. So for a few hundred bucks more than the VW you could get a very nice setup.I am hoping you all argue a bit and help me decide. I recently upgraded the stylus to a Moonstone for $180. I think I’m good on the TT front for a long time.
Other options I shopped before choosing the Evo were Fluance, U-Turn, Rega. IMO you probably can’t go wrong with any of those.
For those who will suggest vintage, I’m not against it, but I don’t have the time to hunt for bargains and I like having a warranty of something breaks prematurely.
