Enjoying it neat or with water?
I normally pour this over a couple ice cubes so in a sense I am adding water. I might drink Balvenie neat but not this one lol.

Last night we enjoyed high proof bourbons but nothing 126 proof lol, most of those I can drink neat. Today we have Allagash white beer on tap so I may stick with that. We also have a large amount of Gulden Draak but at 12% alcohol and Chimay Grande Reserve at 9% I need to take it easy on those. The Chimay was launched as a Christmas ale many years ago. This is about the only time I drink it.

And then there's Grateful Dead's "thick air":

Eventually, Hassinger (the producer) grew frustrated with the group's slow recording pace and quit the project entirely while the band was at Century Sound, with only a third of the album completed. It has been reported that he left after guitarist Bob Weir requested creating the illusion of "thick air" in the studio by mixing recordings of silence taken in the desert and the city.

Is the dynamic range of the desert > 55 - 60 db or w/e the dynamic range of portable recording equipment was in '68?

Last night I tasted beer that is illegal in 15 states. Samuel Adams Utopias, 28% ABV. It can be had for $240 per bottle, one day a year I believe. I was also given some that should be better, just the price of ingredients for three cases as $1,000.

I'll take that Chimay Ale any day over a 28% Sam Adams that's as thick as molasses :)
It is more like cognac. :beerchug:, of course I only tried a couple different years. Somewhere during the evening I offered to gift the gentleman one of my amps, luckily he already owns headphones lol. It was a fine evening of drinks and music, my son and he try to outdo each other with cocktails but I was also treated to some of his craft brewed beer.

(literally) flushing it down the toilet. 😂😂

Of course you're not paying the product, it's the experience that counts!

(i.e. managing to reach the restroom after a 28% beer )

I have lived in Belgium for 2 years (studying for my Master's degree) and it's been quite the experience, beer-wise. As in, you'd go to a pub, they'd bring you a huge menu and you'd randomly point somewhere in the menu ("I'll have this one"). Guaranteed to be a first taste, there's just too many to choose from.

First time I read of something that strong, though, not even the Belgians dare that much lol

Sam Adams had to develop a special breed of yeast that could survive higher levels of alcohol to create that beer. I would like to taste it, but have never put forth the effort. I'd need to get a couple of equally interested friends to share a bottle.
The gentleman who shared it brews some of the best beer I have tasted. He said the malt was the expensive part when he brewed some of his own 28%. I have not tried his version but my son has.

So in other words, yeast with a high tolerance for alcohol? Sounds like some people I know.
