Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My experience with non-subwoofer class D amps: "Wow, this thing weighs nothing. What is it, an empty box? Hey, it sounds better than I expected, though. Not too bad. Let me turn it up a bit. OOOWWW! MY EARS!! Outta here, class damn."

I still remember sending an email to Schiit Audio just before I purchased my first brushed aluminum box. Same type of question (does their DAC support THX). Same answer. :8ball:

You could make it THX Certified though - https://www.ebay.com/itm/THX-Certified-Metallic-Badge-Sticker-25-4-mm-25-4-mm/323654193737

What was maddening for me is the car I had before it, a Lincoln LS with a Jaguar V8, did pretty much the same thing over and over by shorting out the COPs (coil on plugs) with oil leaks. The Maz was a dream ride at 80 on the highway. So was the Lincoln for that matter. Oh well I drive electric vehicles now. No more oil. :)
I had an XK8, that engine disintegrated at 58K, just out of warranty. I ended up with the retro t-bird - it was not what I went to buy. That was the LS platform too and had the plug issue over and over and over and over. Ford had no idea how to deal with that engine. An independent eventually fixed it when it was a couple of years old.

That 3.9 was a very nice engine when it ran, though. Ford eventually threw up their hands on my 2001 and bought it back from me. What did the XK8 have in it?

Jason does not like Class D even with the new Silicon Nitride chips

So the answer is no
Thank goodness. Although Class D amps have improved quite a bit since their first introduction, they are still Class Dismissed as far as I'm concerned. Possibly OK for a subwoofer amp that rolls off quickly above 20 Hz.

Need a cheap streamer to my Hel2

A cheap streamer would be a raspberry pi.

You specified a blu-ray player that did AirPlay and Chromecast. To the best of my knowledge there is no stand alone device that does that, and if there is it ain't cheap. Not a lot of non-apple hardware does AirPlay.

A used Mac Mini with a blu-ray drive would still be your cheapest option, especially if you are planning to cast blu-ray discs.

Edit: Addendum. Lots of things receive AirPlay, not a lot send AirPlay.

I've used class D amps as AC power sources. I have a test jig I built for work that has 3 x 100W class D amplifiers in it for producing a small amount of 3 phase AC power. I use it for setting the phase monitor relays in our production equipment. Works a treat for amplifying 60Hz sine waves. They suck for music though. Sound like ass.

There is a monoblock amp enqueue for release soon, we hope. No class D, however.
