Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

LOL, times do change...

...still not gonna do stat amps, surround processors, headphones, or MQA, though....
No mention of speakers! @Jason Stoddard, your resolve's weakening. In three years there will be speakers, a tape deck, and hybrid e-stat/dynamic headphones with amp. Everything will be on the table except MQA, and all the licensed home theater formats. ☺

Nah, I'm just human, so I forgot...no speakers, either.

Congrats on entering the gaming market. Had Hel came out in 2013/14, I’d have gone for it hard.

@Jason Stoddard fair enough. Although, I could see powered desk top mini monitors with ribbon driver in them. You've already done the work for the Jotunheim R amp to power the ribbon directly. Add a great mid/woofer powered by another Schiit amp. No one makes such a thing.
and why would that be?

I have been comparing Amazon Music HD to Qobuz for the past week. Free trial since I have Amazon Prime which is nice because I would not pay for the service as is: sound quality is inferior to Qobuz on Windows. Not hard at all to hear the difference on a resolving system. I speculate the poorer sound quality is because Amazon Music HD uses Windows mixer in shared mode. Whatever you stream gets up or down sampled to user setting in Windows Sounds. They really need to enable Wasapi exclusive mode and trial users have not been shy about complaining to Amazon about it on their forum. We'll see if they actually listen to their customers.
What Windows version were you using? If it is Windows 10 version 1703 and above it show up as WASAPI using the internal USB Audio 2.0 driver UAC2. It even presents the device string if offered. Exclusive can always be set at DAC level setting in Windows. Mixer (upsampling to 48 khz) is only used in older Windows versions. This is the same UAC2 the very soon to be released Unison USB™ DAC modules (already available on Bifrost2) will use.
That said, it's no guarantee the quality is OK, but WASAPI and exclusive mode can be used.
Can't try it myself unfortunately as the service is not (yet) released in The Netherlands. Tried work around (it is available in neighbour country Germany) with VPN, German bank account, German address etc., but couldn't get through the subscription pages without being detected as non-German. Lucky me.

Hi @tincanear , thanks for your advice.
In my previous pictures you cant notice, but Asgard 3 still have 3 cm on top for cooling, isnt that enought?
I need keep the top shelf free, and reserved for Sol probably :sun_with_face:.

@Rensek i was looking around and i think i already found a nice solution, "power manager BOOS RC5 " (theres also the RC7 with 7 sucko ports)

might be a while before Jason answers since Schiit just released two new products (Fulla 3 and Hel) both for the gaming market which means a lot of email for schiit to answer. Your setup with the 3cm gap above will probably work just fine, since Asgard3 without on-board DAC module should have about half the idle heat as the Asgard2 (my unit). As an experiment, you can leave it on for an hour and measure the temperature of the case near the center.
