Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

As Dutchies you're still welcome if one of your countries decides to throw you out.
We already have to use some big stamper tool to get everybody in.

I found people there to be ultra-friendly and very accommodating. Spent 6 months staying in Hengelo and working In Enschede. Hardest thing for me was avoiding the bicycles...almost creamed a couple of them as I'm totally not used to looking to the right rear when making a right turn.

You forgot spending 100 hours breaking in Fotons. Just 'cause its no longer needed doesn't change my ritual. That would be inconsistent. :stuck_out_tongue:

No wonder you have been absent a bit lately. Hmm sixty Fotons, 100 hours each, I guess I will touch base with you in 2025 or so.

Those 60 Fotons are on their way to you for resoldering. Wait...did I forget to tell you? Dangit. Sorry. :stuck_out_tongue:

Jason ... can you give an update on the SOL beta testing progress?
Thanks in advance, I know you're busy :)

ok but they will be done in the order received. The Russians sure made a lot of tubes and many are on the way to me. Mostly Melz though, and I give them higher priority. :smile_phones:

Not a problem, Tom. I have around 20 still here that already have 100 hours on them, so I'm good for the next decade or so. Help the Melzii first. :grimacing:

One of my next projects will be very functional and quite pretty, you will want one.

Tuesday I should receive the tubes back from the shootout at Schiit and then move on to other adventures. I may just store them at work, I am nearly out of space and I plan on hoarding single malt scotch, french wine, and italian cheeses before the tariffs hit.

I have lots of room here. If you need me to, um, store anything for you I'm always happy to help. You know me...just my general accommodating self.

Google "voicing audio components". You'll be surprised at what you'll find.

And don't forget the quotation marks, "doh"

I see a lot of dead links to NAIM Capacitor Replacement. :)

What I don't see is what Jason himself is doing in the context of designing new Schiit. :)

It was mildly surprising... I didn't include the quotes first time and got a lot of good advice on how to do voiceovers on video podcasts.

More of a surprise when I included the quotes was that there's apparently one article about voicing a Naim component by swapping a single component - the surprise is how many different websites quote the exact same text.

There didn't seem to be much else. Also a surprise.

Ok.

@Jason Stoddard, we really need an affordable, decent silver disc transport.

From Stereophile today:

The Vivaldi—the four-box flagship product from digital audio specialists dCS—is, in my opinion, misnamed. Vivaldi the composer was an asthmatic priest who worked in an orphanage for 30 years and died in poverty. The Vivaldi stack dedicates four separate products to converting into music digital code stored on silver discs (although you can play music—very well I am sure—on just one box, the Vivaldi DAC, footnote 1). Together, those boxes weigh about 148lb and cost some $115,000. The most expensive is the CD/SACD transport; leave that off and you can save 51lb and $42,000.

Forty. Two. Thousand. Dollars.

To play a CD.

One hundred and fifteen to do it "right."

Help.

Please.
