Dang, I can't believe it's been almost 24 hours since the last post in this thread...

@Jason Stoddard we need some kind of teaser or something to get the mob agitated...

08:45 EST. No coffee. I had an epiphany. As I listen to Pinchas Zukerman (violinist) play with the Royal (UK) Philharmonic Orchestra, I can (finally) articulate how the Schiit Magni3 sounds different from the Schiit Vali2 (with their stock NOS tube). Tunes: A 2016 Decca DDD-disc ripped to FLAC.

The Vali blends the music.
The Magni articulates the different instruments (So, THAT’S what is meant by a headphone or output device being ‘analytical’).

The Vali might be easier to listen to over prolonged sessions; however, if I want to hear the actual finger work, I plug my cans into the Magni. Yep, I’m satisfied I bought both.

Limiting ones self to one option is limiting. :)

I was looking here at the 23 hour mark and thought I'd wait until 24 hours had passed before commenting on it, you beat me to it
... and now there have been a bunch of posts (I didn't realise that when I started this :confounded:)

but it was only 23 hours 39 minutes when you posted

My favorite is the Vali 2 with the adapter mounted with two (2) x 6J5G tubes. :p Seems a little excessive to me.

I have something a bit wilder than that going on with even a smaller amp, similar tube setup though. It may give me a chance to use some old tubes I have laying around my shop. 6J5 equivalents.

Parts are ordered but it will be a while before they show up. I do have a single tube adapter on the way I should be able to show off in a week. The dual tube configuration interests me, if it works well I bet I can make a couple more for my home amp applications, I have worked with plexi-glass, fiber glass and phenolic sheets before. :)

Hmm... I wonder why he didn't go with direct heated triodes?

I'll see if I can get you a longer update today.

The short version is: lots of detail engineering, mostly boring stuff, hence not a lot to talk about. The exciting stuff is still too pie-in-the-sky to even mention (as in, it may not even retain a shade of our original idea, we may be totally off-base.)

A few more interesting things:

1. Mike and Tony and I are going for the final meeting at the die cast company for Sol. Everything else is done and in-house, or ordered and on the way, so this thing is going to be real. Finally. Yes, I know. And just so that you know, complain to Mike and Tony about any delays. I've said more than once that I'm the lazy streaming digital guy, I probably won't even own a Sol. Too much nervosa.

2. We are sponsoring Pocock Brewery's 3rd Anniversary bash...by paying for the porta-potties. Which get our signage. And Schiit Happened toilet paper. This is the brewery you can walk to across the parking lot from Schiit.

3. In case you haven't seen our new advertising, we're moving away from the "Obsolete" messaging, and back to some fun stuff. Here's a sample:

That gives a whole different meaning to the phrase: This Schiit is real!
