Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Jason- great update. What news of the Loki Maxi (w/balance control)? :smiley_cat:

Nothing yet, I'm afraid. One of the new differential stages may be the solution I'm looking for, but I've been busy with a few other things.

There'll definitely be an additional Loki. The problem is feature set. I may do another long post about what-ifs on this one, but let's let the amp discussion run for a while.

Well said US Blues and I do believe that camaraderie is what caused 46 or more people to be here to discuss amplifiers. I have not seen that on any other thread or post in here, if you go to most of them you find one or two people max. Post something and all you hear are crickets in the background.
Crickets or venom, and usually the most venom from people quoting Wikipedia at you. :)

Would we be better off rating it at 25W/50W/100W (8 ohms, 4 ohms, mono), and specifying a lower class A bias (like, 15W into 8 ohms Class A—the total bias has to come down, because the rails get larger.)
Or would we be better off not doing it at all? Is it too much confusion in the line?
- I'd agree, too much confusion. What is the target audience? Asgard 2 owners? Ragnarok owners? Vidar? HE6 ?

3. Totally understood on the flea-power amp being a niche thing.
Niche perhaps, but a sizable one? Wouldn't this drive a lot of bookshelf speakers just fine? I have a Parasound Zamp for my library that has plenty of power for the pair of KEF Q300's I have there. I looked at Vidar for this too but it had way more power than I needed (and I'm not a believer in overbuilding by more than a factor of 2-3x, I will never need anywhere close to 100W in that room ever).

Jason,

Xap. Is it at least still bouncing around in your brain?

I also agree that the way you have presented it could be confusing for people trying to figure out what type of amp they are getting or want to get. I remember you once saying something about other companies labeling amps as class A that are actually biased into class A and then go class AB above a certain point, and how that doesn't seem like an accurate representation. Focus on it being a Continuity amp (after all, that is your new signature topology, right?) and then in the details you can mention how it also features staying in class A for XX watts.

I am not sure carving is the answer, perhaps a mallet and chisel? Very nice Rioja!

Some of us are in a DIY cable thread talking about scotches, and home cured bacon. I would pair that wine with some Spanish cheese, this if you can find it.

There is a book written about it, The Telling Room. A Rioja I like is Vina Real, 2012, reasonable in price with a 92 rating.
What no Aberlour!

What no Aberlour!

The good stuff is locked up in the cabinet below, but I am trying to stay on topic.

I reread the early posts on the coaster amp and if it is a round PC board, I could see mounting it in a scotch bottle perhaps, or even a Camus cognac bottle, somewhere I have the tools for that kind of glass cutting. Another thought is a Quaker oats box as was done with a radio in a current Michael Chabon novel. It should be a fun build no matter what.

I like dead as disco but that might insult disco enthusiasts.

This is also an age test, BTW.

I must be old. I've made a crystal radio.

Interesting to think that we may not have analog radio broadcasts for much longer. TV is all digital now—old TVs receive nothing.
