Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

No, the dimensions on the specs page are incorrect. It's closer to 9 x 6 x 2 without the tubes. Same footprint as Mimir or Lokius, Bifrost's height.
The actual dimensions will be on the site shortly.
I can't be happier! I ordered my Jotunheim 2 in June of 2022 (along with a Bifrost 2), in hopes that a Valhalla with the same chassis height would come out soon. I've been waiting, and the day has arrived. Ordered. I'm jazzed.

My new Vidar 2F and Saga 2 arrived today. I think this is the first shipment split between Fedex and USPS that arrived to the shipping wasteland on schedule.

The integrated will go back to closet. Midgard will go back to office desk. Modius will stay for a few weeks pending Mimir purchase.

Out the gate, while the integrated is a little jewel IMHO, there is really no comparison to the SAGA 2 / Vidar combo. It's rocking right now.

I put this together to play with streaming. I am using the little Wiim Pro via COAX. I have ordered a second Wiim Pro to go on the main system.

The fun begins this weekend. I am going to do some network changes. My local library (main system) is on a Mac mini that also serves FLACs to the Wiim(s) via Samba. I am using only the Samba share source and Qobuz on the Wiim. I want to do some deep diving on the streaming network relationship. I have a new managed switch coming that will let me do some protocol analysis (mirrored port + sniffer) I also have a very nice network inspector that will let me measure performance especially around jitter.

I am curious. I have had zero issues streaming with the exception of non-gapless playback from FLAC to Wiim. I am want to look at those packets!

My Saga was used, and long out of warranty...! Plus, I'm definitely not knocking Schiit, as I love their products. But, I also like to tinker...! 😎

This is probably an unpopular opinion...

I'm in the camp if you can find a good set of Russian 6N1P tubes, you probably have to stop hunting for tubes for the Valhalla.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion. What else have you heard?😉

I've had Bugle Boys and PQ's, not to mention WE396's early 50's. I'm just saying sound is subjective. Don't waste your money chasing a tube dragon. Use that money for solid hardware that can equivocally deliver whenever you hit the power switch.

I was as addicted to NAD as bad as now Schiit. I have had a ton. My ATF was the 317. Paired with a 214. I was driving the ML hybrids. 317 on panel and 214 on woofer. Later split out to 116 and 2 214s then C270x2 and on and on. You get the picture.

So what you're saying is... after trying a few kiddie's tubes, there's no point in enjoying hundreds of big lush dragon tubes.

Sonic gruel is back on the menu, boys.

I don't think I ever posted the crossovers I put together for my Maggies.

Very nice. Are those GR Research Tube Connectors on the inputs?

I have quite the collection of highly regarded 12A/U7 family tubes from my VH2 days and it was quite the difference over stock tubes. Fortunately I have a Freya N so they are still bringing me great pleasure.

I can only imagine what they would sound like on VH3. 😒
