How's the heating in your home? Log fire? Central heating?
Tiered and varying. The entire first floor (about 2100 square feet - mud/laundry room, kitchen/family room, front hall and 1/2 bath, dining room, listening/living room, and master suite are all heated by Oil fired forced hot air (and cooled with central AC in summer). 2nd floor 3beds and a bath) are heated with electric ceiling radiant heat (not optimal, but we mostly live on only the first floor, the rooms up there are guest/kid/grand kid rooms and my office.

We use the new woodstove in the LR as a heat “booster”… it gets that room to 80F or more… I run the central heat/AC fan on with no oil heat to move the heat all around the first floor. It’s also helpful when it gets super cold out (as in zero or below - Farenheit) when the oil forced air heat is insufficient BTU capacity. It was clearly an undersized boiler for really cold weather.

Just got all shoveled out so that we can get in/out and to the woodpile - 2 hours effort. I’m re-considering getting a small snow thrower…

So for those of you out there who, like me, do not care about the NFL and are not watching today's Super Bowl, what activity do you have planned instead?

I'm about to start making some red enchilada sauce from scratch for smothered chicken, chili and cheese tamales, I have pinto beans soaking, and a growler of craft beer in the fridge. Oh and there will be music.
Sounds like a great menu. If I wasn't already making a batch of carne adovada I'd invite myself over for dinner.

This afternoon we are going to bathe Bismarck, have a nice roaring fire, and begin making homemade beef stew (with beef from farm across the street, and our own cellared carrots, garlic, and potatoes… I’ve a bit of work to do; which I’ll do on laptop with music and fire…

I could not possibly care LESS about the stupor bowl. Now, if it’d been the Lions instead of Philly, I’d pay attention. At this point I just want the Cheats to lose. ;)

Taping game, if KC loses will watch, if they win I will destroy the recording with malice.

Wife made her (Test Kitchen recipe) tomato soup (grilled tomatoes and shallots featured) its the best I've ever had. I added the grilled cheese (Havarti), Serrano Ham, sweet hot mustard on Deli Swirl Rye cooked on Irish no salt butter. Not bad...

Going to make snow men around 3 PM, then hot cocoa (Ghirardelli and/or Whittard) and whole milk w/ a dash of Half&Half, and homemade whipped cream and dark chocolate shavings (Jacot Haute from the family trip)

Dinner late: Chimichangas (pork, onions carmelized, peppers (poblanos & red), black beans, tomatoes grilled, garlic fresh, cilantro fresh, blended cheese grated) w/ Treehouse Haze Double IPA

Late night: Arterial cleansing - Bees Knees (gin/lemon juice/honey)

Other teams get called for the offensive lineman being too far behind the center but not the Chiefs at home, one of their guys on the right side especially.

Some of you might remember @FLTWS, my helper today grew up maybe ten minutes from him.

My wife doesn't eat pork so the version of that I usually make is closer to Chili Colorado. :)

How is @FLTWS doing? Have not heard from him in a while.

I'll be watching the game but making duck ragu to put in the freezer. Getting surgery on my right elbow on Friday to relieve pressure on the ulnar nerve and will thaw the ragu out to have something to eat while I am incapacitated the first week. Unlike most probably, I am a chiefs fan and will be rooting for the red team.

I have not heard either and we used to talk outside of here. I suppose moving into the retirement community got him away from his audio hobby. He sure sold off a lot of gear and racks of music CDs. A great man with a wealth of knowledge about music and audio gear. I can say that because we both love a particular tube amp and speaker combination.😜

Go Chiefs! 😁
I really do not mind either way but I would love to see Saquon Barkley finally win something after those years with the Giants. I really think he will be the key to the game today and has had a stellar year.

Nothing wrong with that. I’ve got a few quarts of homemade Chili Colorado in the freezer. 🌶️

Haha…. We made homemade cream of tomato soup a few nights ago… thawed a big gallon bag of our fresh tomatoes we had frozen (we had an epic harvest this year as you know), and then cooked em up/down with garlic about a pint of our own homemade chicken bone broth/stock, and then used the immersion blender and some whole Jersey milk and cream to Wazz it to the right texture… then the freshly made Foccacia we made with this WONDERFUL Italian gluten-free flour a colleague turned me onto while in Madrid week before last - I had Gerri order it so we could uses it…. Sliced the foccacia into sandwhich thickness/shape and made grilled cheese with it to accompany the soup.

For anyone forced to do Gluten free: Antimo Caputo Gluten Free Pizza Flour from Italy (available on Amazon thankfully). Best we’ve found yet in 7 months of faffing about…
