Maybe so. At least until the Multiform upgrade for Yggy is released. 😉

I love the sound but, as Jason admits, it's not the most practical of amps. I have a much smaller (slightly more finicky) amp that fits my lifestyle a little better.

A half-size MJ3, now that would be something!
.... or a Mjolnir 1.732 🤪!!

Interesting, didn't Jason state that the Yggdrasil MIB was still better than Gungnir 2 in the previous chapter? Granted like you said "at least for (his) speakers" Gungnir 2 is better.
There is no “better,” only different.

NASA knows we’re in deep……they just discovered a hidden secret city built by USA in 1959 under a glacier in Greenland that was abandoned in 1967 because of the accumulated weight of the glacier. Well they found it again sticking right out of the ground no ice at all. So good luck where you live, move. I don’t think it matters a smidge.
I look forward to owning beach-front property here at 1800 ft elevation in Arizona.

Well there is a second nasa find involving water, err lack there of, but I’m no Debbie downer. It’s easy today to say we’re f—-. Happy long weekend. We got tunes after all…

can't readily find the specs for Aegir 1
From Sterophile, Aegir 1 has "Voltage Gain: 22dB", so the same as Aegir 2.

From hifiengine, Vidar 1 has 27db of gain.(No idea if this is accurate, because I could have swore it was 4dB greater than the Aegir).

Tyr is rated at 28dB.
Wotan(feedback): 26dB.
Wotan(w/o feedback): 32dB.

IMHO re amplifier Tyr/Wotan/Vidar2 choice:
To elaborate on my earlier post, I currently have a horizontal biamp config with Aegir 1 on highs and Vidar 1 on lows. My active xover is set to attenuate bass as much as it can, to try and compensate for the gain difference between the two, but the additional 2dB difference between Vidar and Tyr is probably too much to live with, without some type of attenuation(doable, but not "free").
I am not considering a Vidar 2 purchase at this time.

aside: Tyr gain spec calc has an error as 22 is 26.8dB, not 28dB
Oh? I never thought to double check any of these numbers. Maybe things won't be as mismatched as I thought.
