Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

The soundstage on this Enigma album, track 7: the voice and the snake…

Is epic.image.jpg
An amazing recording. Looks like you’ve got an original 1990 release. I have the SACD version, but I feel the original is better. It is more dynamic. Enjoy.
My favorite is track 3. The callas that went away. Sounds pretty damn good off the Schiit Kara. 😌

If we apply Moore's (not Jason's) Law, we should hit 20k pages sometime around September, 2028. By then, we'll have Vali 7, Tyr 5's, and Schiit toilet paper will be $75 a roll. 🤣

(I know someone will correct my math on this 'cause I also know I suck at math )

Edit: I am
really interested to see how Jason can improve on Vali 3, at least in that chassis size at anything close to the price. There are still things in our universe that are just not possible.
I suspect several laws of physics were broken in designing Vali 3? 😏

This just in: how to get at least $7500 worth of audio component value absolutely free! And it's so easy I can't believe everybody isn't already doing it.

Step 1: Obtain $25,000 component.
Step 2: Purchase the linked $7500 power conditioner.
Step 3: Revel as your $25,000 component nearly instantly (after break-in, of course) sounds like a $40,000 component!
Step 4: Math. $25,000 + $7,500 = $32,500. $40,000 - $32,500 = $7500. Your gain, no pain.

You're very welcome, everybody. 🤣 🤣
I think I can do better. I got these a while back. so...
  1. 25,000 (yeah, sure  ) audio blingery, I mean, ear candy
  2. purchase the above
  3. Revel in the 60% audio improvement, elevating my $25K audio to $40K
  4. Math: $25,000 + $3.33 = $25,003.33. $40,000 - $25,003.33 = $14996.67
    1. Now, since I have 2 more (the above is a 3pack), it's $14996.67 + 2x$14996.67 = $44990.01
I've made enough to do it again! Perpetual motion as applied to audio purchases, woo hoo!

Lots of wacky ideas in play.

The catch is--we are very far along the performance/value axis. This means that:

1. Many of the wacky ideas are too wacky, and won't work.
2. Multiple prototypes of multiple wacky ideas are required, with listening of different candidates needed to determine "winners."

Fun fact: one multi-prototype new idea was so good, I figured "no need to build the other one, this slaughters the existing product." But, being a completist, I built the other version anyway. And, instead of falling short, it traded blows. As in, it became "flavors." And so another round of prototypes are needed for both (optimization, ****up-fixing, etc).

But don't worry, we have a ton of weird ideas, and some of them will work!

150,000!!!

[Let's see, 15 posts per page X 10,000 pages = THE MATHS DON'T lie!]
Couldn't have happened to a nicer master distiller!

I may have mentioned this before but you should check out a book by Paul Beatty, “Slumberland”. It involves music (mostly jazz) and an American in post-wall Berlin. The Audible version really brings the book to life. Beatty is the first American to win the Man Booker prize for fiction.
Interesting! I don't like audio books, unfortunately, should I try the dead tree version?

The audio book is EXCELENT! I think it would be an excellent read as well.

Let me know when you need volunteers or someone willing to work for Texas BBQ (look, it's better than what I can get here...)

I read and listen to both but Audible captures the musicality of this work better IMHO. I own both. Sometimes the actors hired to perform specific works add a nuance and in this case music itself as I recall. I should do a re-listen since it has been a few years and my memory is imperfect.🤪
Try the dead tree since it is not worth signing up for Audible if you do not own it. His award winning work is Sellout, an amazing satire but it has little to do with music.🤪

I must admit you have me considering an audible trial subscription... Just for what you have described.

There is great thought given to the actors who read, people like Wil Wheaton for sci-fi, then there are those who can make you believe nine different voices are involved by using just their own. It is an art form IMHO.

I don't know about physics, but Bcowen's Law that Vali 2 was the best bang for the buck in all of audio has been dashed against the rocks. I do, however, reserve the right to modify Bcowen's Law whenever I feel like it, and as such it now states that Vali 3 is the best bang for the buck in all of audio. 🤣

He does an outstanding job in narrating 'Ready Player One'.

** I have Tom to thank for opening my ears to Audible.
