Yeah MIB is the most holographic sounding DAC that I've heard to date, in direct comparison on the table with the G2, G2 just wasn't holding a candle to its spatial presentation. Still haven't heard another DAC that does front-to-back layering like the MIB.G2 lacking depth? I find it’s one of its strength, even compared to Yggdrasil.
Funny how that works…

Curious:
Better? Please elaborate.
Because Unison 384 is exactly the same as Unison 192. Literally no changes other than we made it run faster on the hardware so that it can deliver the higher rates. If you feed it with sample rates of 192 or below, it's the exact same thing.
Better because you can completely bypass the burrito and have serious HQPlayer tweaking at 384 KHz regardless of whether you’re in NOS mode or not
I’ve owned A1, A2 and MIB Yggys and then the G2 briefly. Yggy still better in any of its iterations than Gungnir 2 in my opinion. Gungnir 2 was way more 2 dimensional and lacking depth compared to any yggy variant
I was able to unlock this from Yggy with AES, multiple DDCs and networking tweaks like Diretta and Ethernet filtering + fiber optic

I just use usb and that’s good enough for me, never noticed a difference using AES from a ddc, too much nervosa for me
There's is definitely a difference between USB and coax/BNC/AES. Surprised you can't tell a difference but you can tell dacs apart.

Surprised you can't tell AES from USB. It's quite apparent that AES is more resolving than USB Unison in my case with Yggy. But with G2, you have the option to tweak the presentation, sound stage, tonality with HQPlayer + NAA or HQPlayer + Diretta
I can definitely tell the small difference it makes; it’s just not worth my time. Singxer su6 and my rme ufx iii interface aes into yggy was maybe a little bit smoother in the treble, but the tiny bit of edge unison provided was a benefit in ever system I had my yggys in, not to mention the convenience

Running the Mercury v3 to the G2 via USB as opposed to the AES was a pretty significant difference for me. USB shrunk the stage and killed the dynamics. Tried coax as well and in the end the AES was the superior connection of the 2 units by a significant margin.

Very good. I was the one asking if the upgrade was worth it.
So, I purchased the Gungnir 2, and probably have 100 hours on it. And I can confirm its significantly better. Maybe somewhere between 15% and 60% better. Really hard to quantify. It has all of the improved qualities that people talk about: better soundstage, depth, better highs, better bass. I put my Gumby A2 gen5 on ebay for $700 and it sold within a day.
Only complaint about the new one is the lack of feet, and lack of aluminum shielding on bottom. See photos.

Based upon those photos, agree about the lack of feet and shielding on the bottom of the G2.

yup all over the Schiit Happened thread. Five band PEQ update via FB coming up. I use UAPP on Android via USB - either bit perfect or PEQ (6 or 10 band)/balance/crossfade which I find very transparent. Will be an interesting comparison.

Received my G2 today but 3 lights are blinking. Any ideas? Tried USB and coax from a WiiM Ultra. Tried USB to an iPad. Tried power cycling. Tried using XLR out to a mjolnir 3. Waiting for a response from Schiit.
The lights you're seeing mean that there's an issue with either the input or the analog card. One of them might have rattled itself out of alignment in transit, or something may have otherwise broken en route to you. Your Gungnir 2 will probably have to come back to the mothership for us to take a look at. Someone from our support team will respond to your email with instructions how to R/R (return/replace) your Gungnir 2 early tomorrow morning when they're back in the office. I'm really sorry about the inconvenience!Received my G2 today but 3 lights are blinking. Any ideas? Tried USB and coax from a WiiM Ultra. Tried USB to an iPad. Tried power cycling. i had mjolnir1 and gungnir1 with audeze LCD-2f back in 2015 up to 2017 as i good remember. Sound was great however i was hoping for more bass. Now i have LCD3F (2023) with Compand DAC215 and i am thinking to update to Gungnir2 with mjolnir3, do you think it will be good pairing? i listen to rock, chill music and sometimes house music
also i will pay extra for this Forkbeard option to have control over DAC. I heard there is EQ, it is good road to just EQ if i will miss bass or it will never be sufficient ?

The Gungnir 2 >> The Gungnir 1 (any). I don't know the MJolnir 3 well, lots of people like it and a few do pair it.
