Schiit Audio Gungnir 2

If anyone can compare to OG Bifrost 2, that would be helpful. People raving about this DAC is meaningless to me if they haven't heard the OG Bifrost 2, a DAC that is already phenomenal at a much smaller footprint/cost.

FWIW, the Gungnir og a2 was much better than the og Bifrost 2 in every aspect. Spent 2 weeks with both before ultimately parting with the bf2. I'm still waiting on some other items before I can officially listen to the G2 which is just sitting, waiting.

Upgraded my OG Bifrost 2 to the 2/64 card. Better in almost every respect. The G2 is better than the Bifrost 2/64 in almost every respect.

The G2 is very accurate in delving into music. I love microscopes, high resolution cameras, and shotgun mikes. I like detail.

One of my favorite albums is "Sunday at the Village Vanguard", by Bill Evans. Released in 1961, it's considered one of the best live Jazz albums of all time.

With the Bifrost 2/64, I heard the ice cubes being dropped into glasses, the background banter of the crowd, creaking of chairs. The album sounds fantastic.

With the G2 I hear Scott LaFaro bending the notes, making contact with the wooden neck of his double bass (considered in the top 20 of all time bassist, he died 11 days after this performance in a car accident). I hear the brush work of drummer Paul Motain. Most of all, the perfect notes of Bill Evans. Did he ever play a sour one?

If you like to examine your music, the G2 is a good choice.

Just listened to that Saturday, great recording.

Not what I asked. I am seeking comparisons to the OG Bifrost 2, which is better than the 2/64 version in my strong opinion.

Cyan 2 comparisons would also be helpful.

I look forward to hearing your impressions. You can plug it in and start warming it up ahead of time ;) Particularly curious if G2 has as much of the rich, thick density as the OG BF2 or Gumby, that was lost with the 2/64 TI version.

I've only heard the A1 Gumby w/ unison and I still preferred the OG BF2 for its superior blackground.

Heard good things about A2 Gumby though. I know there were two versions of it, one with VCO clocks (B serial) and one without or something like that. But those are hard to find and I prefer having NOS mode available.

According to my tracking info I should have all my puzzle pieces today. Including the shelving unit to separate the g2 and m3. Hopefully the setup with the pi2design mercury 3 goes smoothly and I'll have tunes by this evening. I'll report back once I have a good handle on everything. The G2 has been warming up since Monday of last week when I got it.

I replaced my well used OG Bifrost 2 with the 2/64 card. Well worth it in my very strong opinion.

Recieved mine on Saturday to replace BF 2 OG. Connected to pc using audio quest forest usb and then into lokius and mjolnir 3, listening through meze mepyrean 2.

Initial impressions: holy crap. Sounds big. Low end is more detailed and refined while still maintaining good heft and dynamics. Seems on par with BF 2 OG if not better. Mids are very detailed with great sound stage and insteument layering. Highs are smooth yet very detailed and airy. Much easier on the ears compared to BF 2 OG. Billie eilish "what was i made for" is pure beauty. Her voice just floats in space. So far after several hours of listening I'm very impressed. I didn't even need the lokius to tweak the sound. Much better then BF 2 OG IMO. Looking forward to listening after proper burn in.
I'll answer any specific questions to the best of my ability. But all I can say is I'm not going back to BF 2 OG. Just can't do it after listening to Gungnir 2.

Any OGs who dared to order?

As a MIB owner and BF2OG owner, you can’t go wrong with G2 if Marv’s take is that it’s a drop-in for a MIB IMO. MIB has the same bass impact as the BF2OG with better texturing, heft and agility
