How about a Lexicon RT20? You can still buy new in the box units for under $1,200. Not bad for a player which sold for $5,000 when in production.

Will it play Blu-ray discs Miguel?

No it will not play blu-ray.

Just looked up the Lexicon player. You're right Miguel, it's a steal at current
prices. If only I had the disposable funds...

I'd still go for an Oppo SACD player if I HAd to buy something now...but when
the new SACD/Blu-ray players were out I'd be all over them.

Anyway, the best of luck in your journey!!!!

Look at riceboy's Exemplar-modded Denon instead, if it's not sold already.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You may try the new Esoteric SA-50 SACDP which not only plays SACDs but also has digital inputs accepting 24/192kHz audio, so you can play any hi-rez files from your music server on the same sacd player, it's more future proof solution than a legacy 16bit player, and it's in your price range

BTW digital inputs capable of 24bit/176,4kHz and 24bit/192kHz

are optical and coaxial one ,the usb input accepts only 16/44 (so usb input is only cd quality

) but it shouldn't be a big problem to find a PC/sound card with digital coaxial and optical outs and setup hi-res connection for studio master flac files playback...
